I’ve noticed the daily menu published online for Zalamera in Bigastro, so we decided to give it a try. Although we have been to Bigastro a couple of times, we’ve never eaten there, so this was a first for us.

What We Had
Soph had a Coke Zero while I had a tanque of beer,
We were then brought out a bread basket and a nice house salad to start. Along with the salad, we were brought out too, olive oil, salt sachets and balsamic vinegar.

First Course
We both chose the same: the lentejas con chorizo. A delicious, hearty dish, with tasty chorizo in it. This was nice, autumn-type food.

Main Course
Although I was tempted by the pork, we again both chose the same dish, the arroz y secreto. Plenty of meat in this dish; it was a large portion, to say the least. Very hot, fresh, and enjoyable.

Desserts
There were at least 6 different desserts, and again I was tempted to go for the rice pudding; as soon as I heard the words tarta de queso, my mind was made up. Soph then she decided she’d have the same.
This wasn’t quite as expected, but in a good way. There wasn’t a heavy base; instead, it had biscuit crumb sprinkled on the top for texture and this worked really well.

I added a Café Bombón to finish off my meal and it was one of the best I have had for a long time.
What We Liked
Very friendly and welcoming service, prompt and attentive. Food was plentiful and enjoyable
What Could Be Improved
To be fair, there wasn’t anything that was problematic at all. I’d seen the menu online, posted on Facebook about us going there and it was just as we expected.
What It Cost
The menu del dia was 13€ each. I was charged an extra euro for the upgrade to a large beer. My Café Bombón was an additional 1.60€, so the final bill came to 28.60€ in total.

Would We Return To Zalamera Bar & Restaurant In Bigastro
Without hesitation, especially if we were in the area.
