This is where we reveal a bit about us at Dave in Spain.
We have lived in Spain several years now, in 5 houses in different regions. We have done the costal areas, we have done the more rural areas and we have done the deep inland, traditional Spanish village life, where none of the local shops or bars spoke any English.
When we moved we always looked for recommendations for places to visit, to eat, to go for a beer and many a time relied on the huge websites which quite often we littered with fake reviews and feedback. We also found a lot of Facebook groups had clearly biased admins or the reviews were from fake profiles.
So Soph and I decided to start this little website to talk about life in Spain from an ex pats perspective and to leave totally honest, impartial reviews of any locations we visit.
All our reviews are 100% genuine, we have actually visited the places we mention. We give impartial comments and we will upload images of the food, drink as well as a receipt if provided and if we get chance an image of the building we have just been to.
We don’t get free lunches in exchange for nice feedback!
David
After starting training as a chef back in the mid 1980s, a career change meant for the next several years I was out of the kitchen, until 1989 when I was approached to help out as a pastry chef. After relocating several months later, I started my own business in a service industry. It was at the same time I got into mystery shopping.
For well over 25 years I was a self employed marketing consultant and mystery shopper employed to visit and assess all type of establishments ranging from fast food outlets, to 5 star hotels and fine dining restaurants. These included most of the well known pub, restaurant, fast food and hotel chains in both the UK and Dubai.
With being involved in SEO ( Search Engine Optimisation ) and SMM ( social media marketing ) for over the past decade, being able to retire in Spain ticked all the boxes.
That being said, we decided to get the site up and running, more as a hobby so you’re not bombarded with pop up adverts and all that malarky.

Soph is my better half, who usually coms with me when I visit the many bars and restaurants. She’s often busy looking after our dogs, the chickens and the garden too.
