Where Can You Find the Best Tapas in Benijófar? We put two popular local favourites to the test to find out. Benijófar has no shortage of places promising good tapas, but which ones actually deliver?
We decided to put two local favourites head-to-head: Cerveceria-Taperia ANETO and Cafetería Bar Sonia.
We ordered the same dishes at both, then compared the taste, quality, portion sizes and, importantly, the price.
So, which one came out on top — and which offers the best value for money?
Before we start, we do not live in Benijófar; we usually visit to eat and drink. We visited both venues at just after 13.00 , to avoid the lunch time rush.
Cerveceria-Taperia ANETO
This was our first ever visit here, although we have walked past a few times over the years, it has always seemed very quiet.
Their address is Local 12, C. Aneto, 03178 Benijófar. They are next door to Luma Brunch. They do have a Facebook page here, but it’s not updated.
What We Had
Drinks: I ordered a tanque of beer, while Soph had an Aquarius lemon to drink.
Food: We went for tapas, Albondigas, Magra, Chorizo and Patatas Bravas. We were asked if we wanted bread and aioli, which we had assumed a bread basket would come with the two meat dishes. So we did add that to the order.
The Dishes
Albondigas: Tasty; the sauce was ok but lacked a bit of depth. These were large meatballs and it was nice to see veg in the sauce which often isn’t the case.

Magra: Very lean and tender pork, though the sauce was a little thin.

Chorizo: This was the best of the 5 dishes, very tasty and sizzling hot. However, the portion was 5 pieces, and these were quite small for the price.

Patatas Bravas: These were fine, but were potato wedges rather than the traditional cubed potatoes.

Bread and Aioli: Nice fresh bread and the aioli was tasty with a good kick of garlic.

What We Liked
Prompt, friendly service, although we were the only people there. We sat outside and another couple popped in for a drink.
What It Cost
The total bill came to € 30.50, with the breakdown below.

What each item cost:
Tanque Of Beer: € 3.00
Aquarius Lemon: € 2.50
Albondigas: € 6.50
Magra: €6.50
Chorizo: € 4.50
Patatas Bravas: € 4.50
Bread and Aioli: € 3.00
Please note as the bill shows the prices did not reflect the actual dish, so these are educated guesses.
Cafetería Bar Sonia.
We have been here a lot of times over the years, because it is consistently good food, good service and we describe it as ‘genuine’.
Their address is: Av Federíco García Lorca, 68, Benijófar, 03178.
They have quite an up-to-date Facebook page here and a good website with menus, etc too.
What We Had
Food we went for the same selection of tapas, Albondigas, Magra, Chorizo and Potata Bravas. Also the same drinks, an Aquarius lemon and a tanque of beer.
What we did here was order 2 dishes ( Albondigas and Chorizo ) to start, to see if these came with bread. It didn’t, so we ordered the other two dishes and the bread while eating the first two.
The Dishes Here
Albondigas: Lovely thick homemade sauce, meatballs were all different shapes and tasty.

Magra: Good portion size, with lots of meat in a rich tomato sauce.

Chorizo: This was lovely and hot, very tasty with a bit of a kick Six pieces to share, three each, plus a few potatoes in the middle too.

Patatas Bravas: Standard Patatas Bravas, tasty and nicely presented.

Bread and Aioli: Wow, this isn’t the cheapest but it was delicious.

What We Liked
Fast, friendly service; the place was busy and had a nice buzz to it. Mainly Spanish in there.
What It Cost
The total bill came to: €25.80 in total.

What each item cost:
Tanque Of Beer: €2.90
Aquarius Lemon: €2.30
Albondigas: € 4.10
Magra: € 3.90
Chorizo: € 3,90
Patatas Bravas: € 3.80
Bread and Aioli: € 4.90
Final Thoughts
As the bills indicate, there is a €4.70 difference, which equates to a 15.41% difference in price.
We felt the portions at Cafeteria Aneto were not as large and the flavours were not as prominent either.
I did a write up called Best Tapas In Benijofar back in December 2024 and started it off by saying ” Now, I’m always willing to listen to and visit other places on peoples recommendation, but to be blunt, I’ve yet to find any bar in Benijofar anywhere near as good as Bar Sonia for tapas.” The same still applies, in 2026.
