So we managed to attend the re-arranged San Isidro Tapas Route 2025 and thoroughly enjoyed the day out.
Our first port of call was to the lovely Oasis Lagoon Park, which as we needed to drive past was the obvious choice. There were already people here and others arrived while we were there.
Super quick, friendly service and there was a choice of 2 different tapas here. Soph went for the croquettas so I chose the sausage.

Both these were cooked to order, so arrived lovely and fresh!

If you have not been here, you should give them a visit, details are on their Facebook page and it’s a lovely place to pop into and pass the time for an hour or two.
Bar Pilar
This was our second place on the list. We managed to get a parking spot just across the road and realised that the band were playing as we got out of the car. Luckily we got a table inside, and a minute or so later the band and their followers left, so the place emptied quite quickly.
We have driven past here countless times, but never been in. This is a real Spanish, locals bar and we were the only non Spanish in here, just as we like it.

Fast, friendly and welcoming service, the tapas here was chicken in a very tasty broth and bread.
La Cerveceria
We’d only had a menu del dia lunch here last month, so were looking forward to see what they were offering. As before the place was spotless, staff were busy but working as a team. The outside tables on the road side were all taken, so we sat inside, though there was courtyard seating available.
Here you had the choice of 3 different tapas, so I asked for a bomba unsure what the other options were said, pointed to a random dish. This turned out to be a flaky pastry, savoury dish which was very tasty.

The Bomba was delightful, the sauce had a lovely kick to it.

Polideportivo Municipal de San Isidro
This was our next stop, “where?” you might be asking. Just down from El Rancho, this is the local sports centre and the kids were playing football with plenty of parents watching. You cannot beat grassroots sports, especially on a weekend.
After I retired from playing rugby, I used to be involved in coaching the under 16s one evening a week then their fixtures were on a Sunday morning. Anyway I digress, so back to the football club.
Rough, ready, functional just as you’d expect, it’s a kiosk with no indoor seating..
Friendly service, we once again we the only non Spanish here, tapas was chorizo and we got a seat at one of the tables.

What I liked here was you got a 33cl can of Amstel as part of the deal.
Bar Críspulo
This was another bar we used to drive past on a regular basis when we used to visit the Bell House when it was open and it was always busy. Service here was fine, I managed to snag the last but one table outside, while Soph went into the bar to order. This was the only establishment running the buy a ticket then place your order, type of service. Luckily one of the staff spoke English, so she advised Soph where to get the ticket and she then signalled one of the servers, to indicate Soph was next in the queue.

Tapas was tasty, it was breaded chicken with a tasty sauce and a drumstick.
Candelas Cafe San Isidro
This was a lovely little find and it’s difficult to explain the set up here, as it’s a rabbit warren of a place.

Plenty of parking along the road, this is probably easy to miss if you weren’t looking for it. It was busy here, but service was quick. There were several tapas to choose and Soph just randomly picked a couple, so as not to hold anyone up.

We went into the courtyard and timed it well as a group of about 15 were coming out, so we had the choice of several tables. This was lovely, as it was quiet here but sitting in the sunshine, drinking a beer with tapas…… Blissful
La Casa Vieja Tea Room
Oh wow, what a find. Soph said we’d saved the best til last. There was just one table outside, which was taken but there was plenty of seating in the wonderfully funky courtyard.

What was good here, was they had taken time to have a dedicated San Isidro Tapas Route 2025 menu printed out, to make things easier.
I had a Bombon coffee, Soph went to a black tea. Tapas was Almond cake for me, which was ever so moist.

Soph had the crepe which was delicious. The staff were really on the ball and proactive, plus the guy who served us spoke English. I think 50% of the people here were speaking English, which made us smile.

I really enjoyed my Bombon so much so I suggested we stay for a second drink ( and tapas ). Soph agreed so this time we ordered different dishes, purely for research purposes. My selection was the cheese cake and Soph had the waffle.

The cheese cake was very good and the waffle was as good as it looked.

Final Thoughts
San Isidro is not really a tourist hotspot, it’s a town we used to come to when we lived over in Hondon going back 6 years or so, from time to time. We liked this San Isidro Tapas Route 2025 because we found several new bars that we had never visited before and some we’d never known about.
This is the first tapas trail of the year under the belt and thankfully the weather was decent too!
