Mejillones al Vapor

Returned To Havana Ole In Catral

HeyDaveHere, December 4, 2024December 4, 2024

I went back to Havana Ole and this time I took Soph with me and we made sure there were pictures taken! Soph and I had been out to the Pink Ladies coffee and cake bake sale for cancer, morning at the Gas Express, then had a few places to visit including the butchers to pick up our meat order.

Bake Sale

On our way back home we mentioned about having a lunch out and so I suggested visiting here so she could try the menu del dia.

What We Had At Havana Ole

We both decided to have their menu del dia, which is a salad, bread basket, starter, main, dessert and a coffee, plus a drink

Drinks

I had asked for a tanque of draught Amstel, but was advised the draught beer was run out, so I ended up with a bottle of beer. Soph had an Aquarius Lemon.

Food

Salad And Bread

First came out the salad, which was a basic house salad. The bread was fresh and came while we were having the salad.

Starters

Deviled Potatoes

I went for the Mejillones al Vapor / Steamed Mussels. these were nice, fresh and tasty. The Homemade Deviled Potatoes / Homemade Spicy Potatoes was Sophs starter. A good sized portion, but she did suggest that it needed a bit more heat, as it wasn’t as spicy as she’d expected the dish to be.

Main

This was the House Special Burger with Sides for Soph. Again a decent portion, the burger was good quality. I chose the Paella de Magra / Pork Paella which was very filling, tasty and very enjoyable. The image doesn’t do it credit, to be honest.

Dessert

As we were quite late on, by the time we were ready for a dessert, the chocolate cake had all gone, so we both went for the home made rice pudding. I have not had rice pudding for a couple of years at least, but this was really nice. The cinnamon added flavour and the texture was smooth.

Coffee

We both decided to go for a Cafe Bombon, and as per my previous visit here, was very enjoyable.

What We Liked

Friendly, welcoming service and there was outdoor seating, so to be able to have a lunch at the end of November, sat outdoors in shorts and tee shirt is another bonus.

What Could Be Improved

Don’t run out of draught beer please. But apart from a slight delay at the end when we asked twice for the bill, there was nothing bad about the lunch we both had today.

How Much Did It Cost At Havana Ole For Their Menu Del Dia

Lunch was great value at 12.00€ each and this time I managed to get the receipt!

Would We Return

This is a resounding yes to this question. Good honest food, service and great value. Every time I have been here, I have seen friends either having a drink or food. This is a popular location.
The food is always fresh, the menu changes on a daily basis too.

How To Find Havana Ole In Catral

Coming into Catral you have the huge Chinese store on your right, the petrol station on your left and the restaurant is close by to the petrol station. You’ll often see plenty of people outside, weather permitting.

The address is 78 Calle la Purísima, 03158, Catral if you’re not familiar with the town itself and are relying on satnav to get you here.

There’s parking down the side streets at each side, there are a handful of parking spaces right outside, or the new parking spots across the road are another option.
