Dave In Spain visits Havana Ole Catral

Havana Ole Catral Menu Del Dia

HeyDaveHere, November 28, 2024November 29, 2024

I’d been in here a couple or three times since Havana Ole Catral opened, including their opening night, but never got chance to take photos or do a write up.

Anyway, as I was on my own today, I decided to pop out for lunch and saw the menu on FB and thought to myself ” that will do for me”.

We used to sometimes call into the Bar Restaurante Los Candiles, and we actually had a breakfast there one Sunday morning not long after we very first moved into the town so I know how easy it is to find this location.

A word of warning here, sorry no images for this visit. I took Sophs phone, actually grabbed photos and brought the phone back home with me. One of us ( NOT ME, hint, hint ) dropped the phone and now it won’t boot up or anything. Upside though is Soph now has a new phone!

What I Had At Havana Ole In Catral

I had a Havana Ole Catral menu del dia, which is a salad, bread basket, starter, main, dessert and a coffee, oh and a drink.

Drinks

I had a tanque of draught Amstel.

Food

Salad And Bread

First came out the salad, which was tuna salad. Very fresh, a good sized plate and enjoyed it. The bread I saved until my starter came.

Starter

I went for fabada chorizo, which was a good portion size. Plenty of chorizo and pork in the dish too. The bread was great for this.

Sorry no images

Main

This was a toss of the coin between sardines on the plancha or pork chop, today the meat won. Served with potatoes this was fine.

Dessert

I went for chocolate cake and boy it was very rich and enjoyable. If you know me, I’m not really a dessert person, I’d prefer cheese and biscuits, but from time to time I do like a sweet dessert and this was just that.

Coffee

I asked for Cafe Bombon, just to add to the sugar levels going into my body. This was a very nice Cafe Bombon, very enjoyable.

What I Liked

Speed of service today was fabulous. The server really was on the ball, she was polite, friendly, welcoming and super quick.

What Could Be Improved

One little niggle was the need for dedicated smoking and no smoking tables outside, ideally. The French woman on the next table finished her main course, her male companion wandered off and she went and got herself an ashtray.

She then lit up an awful, stinking cigarette which she proceeded to smoke, while I was eating. Her dessert came out, so she basically then proceeded to alternate between a drag on the fag and a mouthful of dessert. As the wind was blowing to my direction, all I was getting was a faceful of smoke.
Had I seen she was a smoker ( ie ashtrays on the table ) I’d have chosen a different table or gone inside. maybe having half the tables as non smoking, would avoid this.

How did I know she was French? She spoke French then they left in a French plated vehicle.

How Much Did It Cost For Havana Ole Menu Del Dia

Lunch was a very affordable 12.00€. I didn’t get a receipt, but for all that you get here, it’s great value for money and the Café Bombón was just the icing on the cake for me.

Would We Return

I’ve gone back to ‘we’ as Soph had said if it was nice, she’d go with me next time, so the answer here is a resounding YES.
This is traditional, rustic, homely Spanish food and well worth the price, you do not leave not feeling full!

How To Find Havana Ole Catral

The address is 78 Calle la Purísima, 03158, Catral, and it’s across from the Hiperber supermarket and next door to the Briogas petrol station and car wash.

They don’t have a dedicated Havana Ole Catral Facebook page, but you can see their menus, opening times etc HERE, as the boss updates on a regular basis.
