SHACK 54

Shack 54 El Raso Saturday Lunch

HeyDaveHere, November 29, 2024November 28, 2024

We were driving along Lemon Tree Road towards Quesada and decided to pop into Shack 54 El Raso for a bite to eat. Prior to them moving here and rebranding, we’d been to Taste of Peru Don Pepe restaurant a handful of times and thought it was time to call in here now they had moved and were established.

After seeing them post their Shrimp Chowder Soup, which looked lovely, this was another deciding factor as to why we needed to revisit.

What We Had Shack 54 Restaurante

Drinks

I had a pint of Aguila. Soph opted for a soft drink and went with a Coke Zero

Food

Meatballs
These were enjoyable, a nice, thick tomato sauce.

SHACK 54 - Meatballs

Frankfurter & Chips
As you can see this is a large portion, the fried crispy onions were really nice. Chips needed seasoning.

Empanadas

We shared 1 each of the Beef Empanada and also the Cheese & Onion Empanada. Both were okay, quite filling, I would have prefered these to have more flavour though, personally.

Yuca Fritas
As Yuca ( which is another name for Cassava ) is a root vegetable, there wasn’t any expectation of natural taste as such. Sadly this was the case here and it was rather disappointing as a dish.
We’ve had Cassava chips when travelling and as a snack they were fine, alongside a dipping sauce. Sadly these fries were bland, too big and the yellow pepper cream sauce lacked any punch.

What We Liked

Service was prompt, the location was clean and tidy.

What Could Have Been Improved

I know they offer a menu del dia, during the week, but we weren’t made aware of the Saturday lunch special when the menus were brought out to us. We ordered what we ordered and it was only when a different server, mentioned to a customer on the next table that we heard about this. Had we been aware of the rice dish, we would both have ordered the lunch special.

How Much Did It Cost

The bill on this visit came to 22.80€.

SHACK 54 Receipt

The beer was 2.90€ for a pint, Sophs soft drink was just 1.90€. The empanadas were 2.50€ each and the tapas dishes were 4.00€ for the meatballs, and4.50€ each for the other two dishes of the Yuca Frites and the Frankfurters with chips and crispy onions.

Would We Return To Shack 54 El Raso

Yes we probably would return to Shack 54 El Raso, but this next visit would be to try the menu del dia.

How To Find Shack 54 At El Raso

If you know the urb it’s easy to find. It’s next door to El Bar, just off the third exit on the first roundabout as you come onto the Urb.

Their address is Carrer Nuestra señora de Fatima urb el raso 03140, they also have a phone number listed as being 614 21 46 40.
