We popped into Bar & Kitchen El Olivo down in Quesada today to have a drink and we had planned on a couple of tapas. We got a seat out on the rear terrace, next to the water fountain and this is a tranquil location. There’s shade if you want it or seating out in the sunshine.
What We Had At Bar El Olivo
Drinks
I had a pint of Estrella Galica to start and then squeezed a second in, while eating. Soph had a Coke Zero to begin then during the meal had a bottle of water. We were also given a small dish of olives with our first round of drinks.
Food
Originally we were going to try some tapas dishes, but we saw they do a mixed meat platter for two, so we changed our minds and decided to try this instead. We ordered bread and alioli as a starter.
The bread was fresh, the alioli was tasty but at €3.60 I think is very expensive, especially compared to the portion we had a few days earlier in Rojales, where we paid €2.50 and got double the portion.
The mixed grill was good, the morcilla was tasty, as was the chorizo sausage. The chicken breast was tender. There was also sausage and pork steak. The salad was very fresh and the fries were wonderful, they came seasoned and were very tasty.
What We Liked At Bar & Kitchen El Olivo
Great service, very friendly and welcoming. The server was quick to attend to us and really looked after us. The toilets were spotlessly clean, as was the entire establishment. The food was good and the ambiance was nice and relaxed. It’s great to get an attentive server whois proactive in looking after customers.
What Could Be Improved
There’s nothing hugely negative to say regarding our visit today to Bar & Kitchen El Olivo. The only slight niggle would be the price of the pan y alioli. We’d been asked if we wanted it for 2 people, which we said yes to this. There was 4 pieces of bread in total which means each piece comes to 90c each with the accompanying alioli.
What It Cost Us Today At Bar/Kitchen El Olivo
The final bill came to €40.50 for our lunchtime visit, which did include a couple of drinks each.
Drinks
My Galicia was €3.50 a pint, Sophs Coke was €2.40 ( but this was the small bottle of 200ML, as opposed to a 330ml can ), so again not that cheap. The water was €2.50.
Food
The bread with alioli starter was €3.60 for us both. The mixed grill to share was €25.00, which came with salad and also the seasoned fries.
Would We Return To Bar And Kitchen El Olivo
If we were up in that neck of the woods, yes we would quite probably do so. Away from the main tourist season, this is a nice, quiet location. The next visit we’ll try the tapas, as was actually our original plan.
How To Get To Bar & Kitchen El Olivo Quesada
If you want their details they have their Facebook page here and from here you can get directions, which is ideal if you do not know the area.
Their address is calle Adelfas 1, Rojales. But to those who know the area, they are actually in Quesada, at the top of the road, across from the Patagonia Steak House and to the right of the Punjabi Indian.
It’s quite easy to find this place, there’s a little bit of on road parking nearby too. What is also good is you have seating down three sides of the exterior, so there’s sun or shade available but also you can eat inside too, which was lovely and cool
