We were in the area today and decided to have a bite to eat, so Goliat La Marina was the obvious choice for some tasty tapas dishes. We have been here before and never, ever had anything other than superb service, wonderful food and a nice, relaxed visit.
What We Had At Goliat La Marina
Drinks
I had, as usual, a pint of draught beer, while Soph chose an Aquarius Lemon.
Tapas Dishes
We stuck to three of our regular dishes and decided to try something new, being the Chips Boniato which are Sweet Potatoes Fries with Goats Cheese. These were delicious. The goats cheese added another level of flavour and texture and they combined really nicely.
Albondigas ( Meatballs )
Nice and fresh, came with bread to mop up the delicious sauce, these are such a nice dish.
Magra Con Tomate
I really do like this particular dish here, as the sauce has real flavour, you can taste the herbs in there, without it being over powering in any way. The meat is lean, tender and cooked well. Again there is bread with this dish, which means none of the wonderful sauce gets wasted.
Padron Peppers
Not a lot to say about this dish, the image speaks for itself. I love this as a tapas dish, it used to be a regular dish when we lived down in Granada and did our Tapas Friday day out in the local village.
What We Liked Here
The service is spot on, attentive staff and once we had ordered the dishes came out quickly. The prices are very reasonable and the quality of the food is superb.
What Could Be Improved
As before on our previous write up, nothing that we can think of springs to mind. The fact we go back when we are across in La Marina, says enough really.
What It Cost Us Today
The bill for the four dishes and our drinks came to €24.70 . This was broken down into the following;
Drinks.
My large beer was €3 and Sophs Aquarius Lemon was €1.70. Thus the drinks are decent value here too.
To put this into perspective, we called into a bar in Quesada yesterday while going to meet friends for lunch and we were running 20 minutes early. I asked for a cerveza, to be advised they only sold canned or bottled beer. I had a bottle and Soph had a Coke Zero. The bill there came to €4.50, for a soft drink and a bottled beer. I am not going to name the bar, but we won’t be back, that’s for sure.
Food.
Albondigas / Meatballs: €5
Padron Peppers: €3.50
Magra Con Tomate: €5
Chips Boniato / Sweet Potatoes Fries with Goats Cheese: €6.50
Would We Return To Goliat La Marina Tapería
Oh yes and we have told people that they really should give this place a visit for authentic tapas. From where we live it’s about a 20 minute drive, give or take 5 minutes.
How To Get Here
Their address is: Pl. Sierra Castilla, 61, 03177 San Fulgencio.
You may strike lucky and find parking on the main street, but if not what we have done is drive to the end of the road and turn right down Av. San Fulgencio.
Follow the road down and take a right on to Calle Bilbao, then do along this small street and on the ( I think it’s the third ) right is the through road called C. Cataluña, which is a one way street. Go up here and you have parking available on both sides of the street.
This is their Google Maps Location HERE for reference to help you find Goliat La Marina .
Currently, the building opposite Goliat Tapería at the top of Calle Cataluña is being refurbished, so there were four or five builders vans there on our visit today, but these will hopefully be finished doing the reform soon and go. Or if you are going closer to the lunch time for the Spanish, all the vans left just before 2pm, so I’m guessing the builders were heading off for lunch and even a siesta.
Also if you live local or can get a lift to Goliat La Marina , there is a taxi rank right outside the door. Today there was at least one taxi there all the time while we visited and a second joined later on.
