We wanted to reserve a table for the Saturday night music evening at Alma Bar And Cafeteria, so popped in to confirm our place and decided, as it was lunchtime, to grab a bite to eat. Despite the strong gusts of wind, the place was busy with most of the outdoor tables in use. When we first came into this area, I think we called for a coffee early one morning, but for some reason, we never managed to return. Until today, that is! They do have a specials boards outside, which are in addition to their menu which is always nice to have something new to choose from.
There was a good atmosphere a real mix of customers, with many having food as well as drinks. When it’s in the high 20s and sunny, and you are in November, it’s always lovely to sit outdoors and have a bite to eat or just a drink to pass the time of day.
What We Had At Alma Bar And Cafeteria Quesada
For the drinks, I had a pint of draught beer, Soph her Coke, and her mum had a Fanta Orange. The soft drinks here are the 237ml bottle size, by the way.
Foodwise, we all went for different things. I chose the tuna and sweet chilli sauce baguette; Soph tried the prawn and marie rose sauce baguette, while her mum went for the tostada with tomato and tuna. We also ordered a side of chips to share.
What We Liked
Service was very good, very welcoming, and very friendly. The young lady serving was on the ball and worked hard to ensure everyone was served and in order. She was chatty while serving, without being pushy or too much.
What Could Be Improved
To be picky, the chips on the menu when they arrived were actually fries. I’m not sure if this is the usual product served, and if it is, then the menu should be advertising fries. To me, a chip is a hand-cut potato in differing sizes, thicknesses, and even shapes. Now, if they had run out of actual chips and were using fries to compensate, then this is fair enough.
How Much Did It Cost At Alma Bar And Cafeteria?
The bill for the food and drinks came in at a pleasant €20.75.
The breakdown is we think as follows, but as you can see, the receipt is difficult to read, as the printer looks like it needs a new ink roller.
Pint of Estrella €2.50
Bottle of Coke €1.90
Bottle of Fanta €1.90
Side of fries /chips €1.75
Baguette with chili tuna €4.20
Baguette with prawn marie rose €4.30
Tostada of tomato and tuna €4.10
Would We Return To Alma Bar And Cafeteria
We are back there in a week’s time for their Motown and Northern Soul night. We had previously seen, but we were unable to make it to their Reggae Takeover Caribbean night, where the menu sounded really nice. If they repeat this type of event, we will check our diaries!
Would we return for lunch, though? Hmmm, difficult one, really. The friendly service was very good and efficient. The food was fine, but I wasn’t wowed without sounding too harsh. We would not, not return, shall we say. I might actually be tempted over the winter months to try a breakfast!
How To Find Alma Bar And Cafeteria
They have a Facebook page with their details on it, but they are easy to find, as they have good signage on their premises.
This is located just across from the Consum supermarket in Dona Pepa Quesada and next door to Little Leia’s. So there is the option to park in the main car park or try on-street parking, though this is pretty limited.
Their address is: Calle Vigo, 26, Rojales, Spain.
They show their contact number to be: 966 73 12 23
