Lunch with friends at the Gino Bar today. We’d heard about their amazing tuna steaks and couldn’t resist seeing if it really was as good as we’d heard. It’s worth knowing that the bar does many other main dishes that aren’t on the printed menu, so if you visit, do ask what else is available that day.
With drinks ordered, we perused the menu, but all four of us decided on the tuna. We didn’t have starters or extra dishes and that was just as well!
As you’ll know from previous reviews, we tend to pop into Gino’s once a week for a couple of drinks and tapas; I adore the Apollo con tomate, it is nice and spicy (muy picante) which is really unusual for Spanish tapa, but very enjoyable!
Lunch today was a relaxing couple of hours, getting into the sobremesa mode and watching the world go by while putting it to rights.
Today, it was Deano serving us, so as usual, we were well looked after. Drinks were Guinness for me; Al had a draft beer, Viv had an alcohol-free beer, and Soph went for a Tinto De Verano diluted with a Sprite (guess which of the groups picked up driving duties!)
As I mentioned we all ordered the tuna and it was delicious. There is just the one photograph, as we were too busy eating to get any more. It is rare for me to have anything other than a coffee for breakfast and today was no exception. I mention this as I was just able to clear my plate, as the portions are so good.
My tuna came with chips and a nice side salad, and others in the group swapped out the chips for rice, but the tuna was the centrepiece. Grilled and perfectly seasoned, the taste was amazing.
The final bill came to €84.50 and it was worth every penny.
We are back next week, and this time, I am going to try the fish and chips. There were diners at a couple of the tables near us who had ordered, and their meals looked really good, too.
