So while we were out and about and had earlier on been to La Taberna De La Cruz, we took the 5 minute stroll up the main street to find Bar Carmencita, as this was another place on my list.
Both Soph and I commented on how different this town feels compared to a lot of the ‘ ex-pat ‘ type enclaves that spring up. At both bars today and the walk between these, we didn’t hear anything other than Spanish being spoken.
When we arrived the 4 tables outside were all taken, Soph went to the corner of the building where chairs were stacked, so see if they had tables set up down the side street, but sadly they didn’t.
Just as I was about to suggest we sit inside, a Spanish guy pointed to the 2 seats around his table and gestured for us to sit. He then moved across to the next table and began chatting with his mate there.
It is things like this that I like, he had no need to do this, but still he did it. On the table next to his friend, there were 3 guys and a woman just getting drinks brought out and a pack of playing cards.
While we were there, a white van pulled up, the driver honked his horn, and then got out of the drivers seat. Walked to the rear doors, opened them up, and there were several bags and boxes of fresh fruit and vegetables. He took one of these boxes to the house next door, returning with 4 empty boxes which he put in the back of the van then drove off.
What We Had
To keep things simple, we had the same as we’d had at La Taberna De La Cruz. I had a tanque of Mahou, Soph had a Coke Zero. This soft drink here was once again in the large bottle. As you can see, the drinks were both served in a DYC glass.

I ordered a tostada with tomato and cheese to share. This was very tasty, fresh bread, prepared to order. The olive oil was already on this tostada, but there was a salt pot brought out to the table.

What We Liked
Great locals bar, where we were made to feel welcome. They have a Facebook page which they update very often, with menus etc.
We got our table outside, I went in to order. The server brought out our drinks and realised the table was ever so slightly dirty, so he advised us he’d clean it for us. He brought out a cloth and wiped the table down.

What Could Be Improved
Food and service perspective, there was nothing that needed improving. I didn’t get a receipt offered, so again this needs mentioning.
What Did It Cost At Bar Carmencita
When I went in to pay, I asked for the bill. It was a different guy behind the bar to the one who served me, but he was literally on his way out of the kitchen, so he called to his colleague.
The bill was 7€.
As there is no receipt, I am going to guess the breakdown here:
Tanque possibly 3.50€, the Coke 1.80€ , so 5.30€ for the drinks. Meaning the tostada might have been 1.70€ to get to the 7€ total.
Would We Return To Bar Carmencita
Yes, we would do so, either for tapas or probably their menu del dia.

Their menu looks good value, but the tapas inside looked tempting too. We might have to come back twice, once for the tapas and once for a menu del dia lunch.
