You know when you drive past a bar or cafe that is always busy and just know you need to call in? Well, this is what happened with Ginos Quesada. I’ve lost count of how many times we have driven by and noticed it was busy, a real hive of activity. Even the lunchtime we visited the Indian next door, we saw that this bar was at least three times busier, which should have made us think twice even then.
What We Had At Ginos Quesada
I went to the bar to order and saw they had draught Guinness, so that was me sorted. I ordered a Coke for Soph and I asked for the menu for the tapas and we ordered the following.
Patata Bravas
A generous portion, and what was great here was the sauce came in a separate dish in the middle of the plate. This was ideal as the sauce was spicy, and it was down to your personal preference on how much you wanted to add to your plate. Be aware, that if you like hot sauce, then this is a perfect accompaniment to the patatas.
Magra Con Tomate
A nice sized portion, the pork was ever so tender, and the sauce was very tasty and thick sauce making it perfect to mop the plate with the bread that came out with the dishes.
Albondigas
These were lovely, a good size, cooked to perfection, and again the sauce was niche and thick but full of flavour.
Boquerones
This plate of fish was well presented; the olives just added to the appearance. They were not as salty as many anchovies are, and this made them a tasty addition to lunch.
This came with the dishes; the bread was very fresh and soft. Ideal for mopping up plates!
Basket Of Bread
Apple Cake
We ordered one portion of the apple cake, as I still had half a pint of Guinness left. This was okay, but then again, it’s often hard to find Spanish desserts in cake form that are as good as British baked.
What We Liked at Ginos Quesada
Everything. Yes, it is as simple as that. Service was friendly, the food was really good, the drinks were good, and the price was well worth the trip out to visit this place.
What Could Have Been Improved at Ginos Quesada
Nowhere is perfect, even though Ginos got pretty darn close. So, if we were going to be picky then the Coke was one of the smaller bottles rather than the larger one that many bars serve at the same price. But it is a case of swings and roundabouts here as the great price of the Guinness more than made up for this.
How Much Did It Cost?
The lunch today came to €23.50. This is as good, if not better than some of the menu del dias as it was just as filling, and I could have my Guinness.
One thing to note is the Guinness was €3.50, which is really impressive considering I’d had a pint just three days before at Old Don Carlos in Quesada, which was €5.00!
Would We Return To Ginos Quesada
Without any doubt at all, we will be back. Sitting in the sun, 26c at the end of October, listening to Bob Marley, enjoying great food and a cold Guinness, what more could you ask for, especially if you enjoy a pint of the black stuff.
How To Find Ginos Quesada
Go down the CV 905 from Ciudad Quesada to the roundabout where the garden centre is on the right. Take the 3rd exit (away from the garden centre) and follow that road to the next roundabout. Take the exit up the main street, then your first left. Go past China Town Laguna to the end of the street. Turn left, follow the road around, and you’ll have plenty of on-street parking available. It’s next to the Indian restaurant.
