We called into Bar El Bosque in Torrevieja for a drink and a tostada, to kill time after my car service appointment and while we waited for a potential phone call in a couple of hours to say the car was done and ready for collection. Due to the various issues already in play with this car service appointment, as covered here, I wasn’t expecting things to be quick with the car.
One of the highlights here though is the proximity to the roundabout where the chemist is. The number of cars that just stop at the roadside actually on the roundabout is amazing. Some go into the chemist, others come into the bar. Combine this with the odd delivery van that also pulls up, and then watching vehicles trying to get around these parked vehicles, while attempting to drive two abreast is proper live entertainment!
What We Had At Bar El Bosque
I had a cafe con leche, Soph had a Coke Zero. We had got a table in the sun and the warmth of the early April sunshine was very nice.
As we were 99% sure we’d not be getting the call before their lunch, we decided to have tapas here too.
I ordered the Magra and also Albondigas, which came out alongside a small bread basket.

The Magra was actually quite tasty and the portion size was pretty decent too. The Albondigas were ok, they had been sat there a while at a guess and were quite bland in flavour, but we , or should I say I , managed to finish them off.
We then had a second round of drinks, me being a good boy I stuck to me cafe con leche.

What We Liked
This is a basic yet popular traditional Spanish place, laid back and ideal for watching the numerous vehicles who park illegally on the roundabout and cause chaos. Staff are friendly and welcoming. They seem to have regulars, which is always a good sign.
It was a good mix of Spanish and Brits/Irish, who seemed to be the regulars at Bar El Bosque.
What Could Be Improved
Not a lot really, this place is what it is, a traditional, popular Spanish bar doing tapas and food. it is one of these types of places that do what they advertise. What more could you want?
What It Cost
The price for this was 15.60€ in total, and today we were given a receipt.
Drinks
The Coke Zeros were 1.80€ each, which is a decent price. The cafe con leches were 1.50€ each.
Tapas.
Tasty Magra was 4.20€ while the Albondigas were 4.60€ for the portion

Would We Return To El Bosque
Yes we would and we’ve said next time we are in Torrevieja at Carrefour, then we’ll pop across for food and I’ll have a beer next time ( just for research purposes only ) and either a different tapas or a bocadiila. I have to say that their Facebook page is a little sparse, but they have menus on the wall and also in the bar area.
As I mention we have been here before and had tostadas back then, which were good enough for us to come back on this visit.
