We had lunch at the Asador Argentino Buenos Aires down in Formentera Del Segura and it was superb!
I have to say I had originally thought they only opened evenings but checking their Facebook page, I was very wrong. We have driven past here dozens of times, if not more and it was only last week we noticed they were open at 2ish when we drove along the road into town.
With plenty of on street parking available, they start lunch at 1pm and you can eat either in the main restaurant or they have a small, outdoor courtyard which does have shaded seating too.
What We Had At The Asador Argentino
Drinks
As part of the meal, I ordered a can of draught beer, and Soph had a Coke. The beer was really nice. I’m not sure which brand it was, but I had a second. I’ll have to pop back another day just to find out. Soph did have a second bottle of Coke; these were the larger-sized bottles.
Bread & Salad
This was brought out before the starters. The tuna salad was fresh. The bread was tremendous—very fresh and soft. The herb butter it came with was really tasty and something different.
Starters
I went for the omelet and wasn’t sure what to expect, it would it be more like a tortilla or an actual plain omelet? I was pleasantly surprised to find it was a cheese and ham omelet, very light and nicely cooked. Soph had gone for the pasta and said it was tasty, hot, and very filling.
Mains
I adore nice pork fillets, and this is what I received for my selection: nicely charred on the grill, very tender and succulent. It came with peppercorn sauce, which was decent. Fries were with this, and they just needed a touch of salt. Soph went for the fish, which was very tasty. It had an herb garnish on it, and as soon as the plate arrived, you could smell just how good this food was going to be,
Desserts
Although I had planned to have coffee, as soon as cheesecake was mentioned, I, in my weak-minded state, said yes with no hesitation. Soph took her time and listened to the menu again for a second time before going for the apple tart.
Both these desserts were gorgeous, they were decent sized portions too. The apple tart was also something different from many of the menu del dias offerings we see.
What We Liked At Asador Argentino Formentera
Great, friendly service and the female staff members who served us, we found do speak English too, which is always a bonus at times. Food was fabulous, the restaurant was spotless, as were the toilets.
What Could Be Improved
To be blunt, nothing at all to improve upon. When you have good service, good food and at a very good price, in a clean and tidy restaurant, what more do you need?
How Much Was Lunch
€28:60, including both meals at 11:90€ each.
Our extra drinks were a small beer at 1.90€ and a Coke at 2.90€, which is quite pricey but it was a large bottle.
Would We Return To Asador Argentino Buenos Aires
Yes we would and without any hesitation. This menu del dia offers great value for money as you really are getting restaurant quality food here at cafe prices.
