We had lunch today at Wok Buffet Yu Hai, which was as good as usual. We have been here several times and have never been disappointed. It is a buffet with salad options, sushi to start, and a great selection of hot starters, including soup, and then you have the cooked-to-order choices, too.
With the cooked-to-order mains, you select your raw meat or fish from a huge selection and then pick whichever veggies you fancy. Then simply hand it over to the chef, letting him know which sauce you’d like, and they do their magic. A few minutes later, you have a freshly cooked, steaming hot plate of deliciousness!
The food is constantly being topped up and refreshed, so it’s not sitting out there for hours at a time. It’s also good to see that there are relatively small volumes of food so that there is a quick turnover at the buffet stations. Today, it was quite busy, too, which was nice to see, but despite this, the service went without a hitch.
The desserts are plentiful – including fresh fruit (and Chinese fruits), cakes, profiteroles, ice cream, mousses, cheesecakes, and much more.
What We Had At Wok Buffet Yu Hai
it might be easier to list what we didn’t have, but joking aside, we started off with sushi, accompanied with soy sauce, wasabi, and ginger. Although these look like commercially bought sushi rolls, they are actually prepared in-house and packed into display boxes, which contain 3 or 4 pieces, depending on which type you choose. These are part of the help yourself option.

Next, for the hot starters, we both had our usual choices. David likes the chicken satay; it’s tender, and the sauce isn’t too peanut-tasting. He added on prawn toast, some pieces of chicken, pork, and duck, and some delicious egg-fried vegetable rice.
Soph went for some of the same dishes but also had a few sneaky chips, fried seaweed, and tempura vegetables.

For the mains, which are cooked to order, we both went for the fish options. David had a couple of mussels, prawn skewers, and a salmon steak. This went with onion, oyster, and shitaki mushrooms, and water chestnuts. He asked for it Red Thai style, with extra spice. This was a really tasty dish with a depth of flavors that combined really well.
Soph went with the mussels, prawn skewers, water chestnuts, peppers, onion, and sweetcorn in the Thai Green sauce.

Desserts. Yes, we squeezed in some desserts too! We shared the cheesecake, chocolate mousse, and tiramisu. In an attempt to be healthy, David added in a small dish of lychees while Soph had a handful of grapes and some pomegranate seeds. David finished off the meal with a bombon coffee.

What We Liked at Wok Buffet Yu Hai
The food has never disappointed, and today was no exception to this. The service is very quick, friendly, and super attentive. Plates are cleared away quickly, and the staff always keep an eye on your drinks and are ready to provide more as needed.
There really is a wide selection to choose from in the cooked-to-order section, with plenty of choices for meat, fish, and veggie eaters.
What Could Have Been Improved at Wok Buffet Yu Hai
Nothing at all. There was no aspect of the visit today that made us cringe or think, “Maybe this needs improving.” In fact, we have never had poor service here. Even when we once turned up, not knowing that they hadn’t yet opened, we still got the same smiley service, and they quickly had food available for us.
How Much Did It Cost?
The lunch today came to €42.50, which, although is more than most menu del dia options, it is an all-you-can-eat buffet type of offering, and you will not leave hungry. Drinks are €3.30 each for a large Coke, which are the larger sized bottles, so these are not the cheapest drinks around. The buffet for adults is €16.95 each.

Would We Return To Wok Buffet Yu Hai
Of course we would. We go here quite often, and this is our go-to choice for Chinese food. We have tried other places, and nothing comes close to the Wok Buffet Yu Hai. You can read a review of another Chinese we visited here and get our unbiased views on our experience there.
