My name is Dave and I own a pair of Crocs

Yes I Own A Pair Of Crocs

HeyDaveHere, September 2, 2026September 2, 2026

I feel better for getting that off my chest, ” Yes I Own A Pair Of Crocs “, although it makes me sound like someone attending a group therapy chat session, where you are all sat on wooden chairs, in a circle. Yes it’s a bit of a funny, but there is a more serious side, as to why I expanded my fashionable footwear collection.

So How Did I become The Owner Of A Pair Of Crocs In My 50s?

I could try to say it was a midlife crisis, or say someone bought them for me as a birthday present, but alas this wasn’t the case.
The long and short of things was, I was in my swimming pool, swimming lengths and minding my own business. I often use my pool time to do thinking and contemplating of things, so I’m often unware how long I’ve been in there.
Needless to say, on this day in question, I had been in around a couple of hours and felt the urge to need to pee.

Being a well behaved and correctly brought up lad, peeing in my pool, wasn’t on the cards. Instead I clambered out of the pool, after completing another couple of lengths, and then had a deciscion to mkae. Do I use the outdoor shower, or should I be totally well behaved and use the house bathroom?

Again, my manners showed through and although we are not overlooked from any angle, I decided the house bathroom was the only option.
Sadly, due to my choice to do another couple of lengths, I knew I needed to be quick, so I scurried with wet feet across the tiles floor outside and into the naya. Here we have 4 steps up into the house and this is where things went ‘tits up’ shall we say.
I slipped on the top step, basically bounced back down on my side and felt each and every rib, bounce off the corner of the steps.

Sophie had just come off the field as she heard me shouting and swearing, so she closed the gate to the field and came running down to see me laid out on the floor.

Luckily, there were no broken ribs or serious injury, but in an hour or so I was black and blue. Yes it brought back memories of my rugby playing days especially when I was aching 6 days later, but hey ho, lesson learned.

It was Soph who suggested a pair of Crocs, and although I laughed this off, she went ahead and ordered me a pair from Amazon. When they arrived, she gave them to me and said, these are great just for walking to and from the pool. I think it was the fact she also added ‘ don’t worry, nobody will ever know and you don’t need to wear them in public’, that made me decide to keep them.

Crocs for the pool

Socks Or No Socks?

This is a 100% no socks with Crocs for me. Even though I’m not wearing these in public, it just doesn’t seem right to wear socks with them. After all, I only use them to schlep to the pool and back into the house. It’s not like I’m in the UK and popping down to Morrisons for a Sunday morning loaf of bread.

Now I am aware some people wear these as a type of slippers, not me though. Although I still miss wodden or carpeted floors, 99% of the time during winter, I wear socks around the house. So rest assured, if you ever call round for a tea, coffee or a beer, I will not be wearing Croc with socks.

So, yes ” My name is Dave and I own a pair of Crocs “, there I’ve said it now.
