A kind of impromptu decision to try some new places for tapas in Dolores
We were going to be passing through the town of Dolores while out on our travels, and as we often do, we said instead of a menu del dia, we’d have some various tapas dishes instead.
Tapería D´Paso
Soph had mentioned this place to me, saying how nice their dishes looked on social media, so this was the first stop off point on our exploration.
Called here to find it was closed and the shutters down. Even their opening hours on the wall showed Tuesday as being open!
We had double checked before leaving home online and they were showing as being open today, so rather miffed at them not actually being open.

That being the case, we will return here. Their address is C. José Mira Conesa 11, 03150 Dolores, Alicante.

Que Way
I went inside to order, a bottle of Estrella Galicia for me, a Coke Zero for Soph.
For the tapas I ordered both the albondigas and the magra. These came with a basket of fresh bread.

I enjoyed the Albondigas, the sauce was tasty, a hint of herbs in there. The magra was fine, there were some big pieces of meat.
The bill was 12.00€, but we weren’t given a receipt.
Their address is; Pl. Constitución, 5, 03150 Dolores

This is a locals’ favourite, we were the only non Spanish there, at our time of visiting.
El Gordo
This is another on our list, but as they are closed Tuesdays, we obviously didn’t get chance to visit here today. So as with above, in the voice or The Terminator ” I’ll be back ” but not on a Tuesday.
We were aware though that they would not be open!

Bar Avenida Cervecería y Tapería Dolores
Here we had a bottle of Mahou for myself, Soph had a Coke Zero.
There were 6 locals inside, all sat at the bar, but I did get served quickly.
For the tapas here I’d noticed some chorizo so asked for that.
The server asked how many, so I just took 3, as they were small.

The bill here was 4.50€, but once again no receipt was offered or given.
We have been here a couple of times previously and always enjoyed the place. Again, we were the only British there.
Cervecería El Cuartel
Our next on the list for tapas in Dolores was Cervecería El Cuartel.
We’d been here with friends in December and had a nice meal, and we know several people who come here for tapas and like it.
As things were panning out today, we didn’t get here either. The back streets were heaving, delivery vans double parked, also drivers who were taking 2 spaces for one car. So after 3 circuits of the block we left, as we were meeting someone over in Quesada and didn’t want to be late for that.
I know that sometimes a place is busy for good reason, ie it’s great food, great service, great value or even better all 3 combined. This is something we’ve noticed about Cervecería El Cuartel every time we have driven past, just how popular and busy they are there.
Their address is Calle Madrid 1, Dolores and as you drive in from Catral, they’re on the right hand side of the main road across from the Guardia Civil station.
Final Thoughts On Tapas In Dolores Today
We didn’t visit the square next to the church today. We’ve already visited 3 of the locations there, namely Rizzo Panaderia and Cafeteria, Antiu Xixona La Fuente and Bar La Plaza, which we covered in this article previously. Today though, as time wasn’t really on our side, we didn’t pop around to that side of the church on this particular visit.
We’ll obviously be back for tapas in Dolores to visit Tapería D´Paso and explore some more tapas bars!
