We called into Bar & Restaurante La Llesca, also in Matola on Tuesday, after we’d been to Restaurante Los Molinos, which we covered here, in depth.
After being pleasantly surprised there, we took the short drive along the road until we came to this bar.
There’s a little bit of on road parking, but we spied a car park across which looks like it is for this bar/restaurant.
The place was busy as we got there, plus almost every table was set for lunch. We took one of the few tables without table covers on, the server was quickly across to the table and she asked if we were dining. I replied “bebidas y tapa”. She indicated it’s best to go see what tapas they have in at the bar.
What We Had At Restaurante La Llesca
Drinks
As per I ordered a tanque, Soph went for the Coke Zero. My beer was ice cold, ideal for a 29c day.

Tapas
I was unsure what to order at first, I saw they had boquerones, so I chose them straight away.

I chose Magra, so we could compare and I also saw they had liver with onions, which I adore so I added that to the order too.

This was a large portion, subtle flavours, not crazily overpowering.

Another huge portion, the meat was lean, but the sauce just lacked a little seasoning. It wasn’t quite as good as the magra we had just had earlier.

You’ll have to excuse the camera angle, but although there were not many pieces of bread, they were huge. Fresh, soft bread and came included with the tapas.
What We Liked
Super fast service, welcoming and friendly. Another traditional Spanish bar, there was at least 18 other people on the outdoor terrace, with an enthusiastic game of dominoes being played.
What Could Be Improved
No receipt was offered. This time I went in to use the bathroom and said to our server as I stood up from the table “la Quenta”, hoping she’d bring it out while I was inside.
Sadly, she hadn’t she’d just come out, said the amount, Soph gave her a 20€ and got 7€ change.

What Did It Cost At Bar La Llesca Asador
So here the total for a drink each and 3 tapa dishes to share was 13€.
Again, we can only guess the actual breakdown.
My ice cold Tanque of Amstel 2.50€ and Soph’s Coke Zero might have been 1.50€
This would mean the tapas worked out at 3€ each on average.
As I say this is pure guess work, but 4€ for both our drinks and 9€ for the tapas.
Would We Return To Restaurante La Llesca Asador Matola
Quite probably for lunch. The coals were lit inside, there was a couple sitting eating a plate of meat in the inside area, and it both smelled lovely and looked very tempting too.
If locals are eating at a restaurant or bar, plus it is busy with the locals, then it must be good.
