We had heard Mr Singhs mentioned several times in forums and Facebook pages, but the comments really were a mixed bag. We therefore thought we’d go and experience a lunch there ourselves. We’d tried a couple of times in the past, but once it was closed and once it was jammed packed and we’ve never got around to returning.
Yes, I know you get a minority who comment things like, “Why do you want to eat curry? You live in Spain.” It’s basically the same as years ago when we lived in England, I ate a curry as I really fancied a curry back then too.
Anyway, before I digress any further, we did get to eat here today and here is our impartial review.
What We Had At Mister Singh’s Quesada
We both ordered the cheap and cheerful menu del dia. As this offering is rather basic we added a popadom each, which comes with pickle tray and also a garlic naan each.
Drinks
I had a pint of draught beer, while Soph was on the diet Coke.
Starters
My starter was the onion bhajis, which consisted of two handmade bhajis. These were nice-sized and tasty. Soph went with the veggie pakoras, which were really nice and well seasoned, which added to the flavour.

Mains
Compared to other Indians, there isn’t much choice, so it’s either chicken or veggie options. I chose the chicken balti and asked for it with added spices, to which the server said, “Is medium to hot ok?” I confirmed that would be fine. Soph went with the veggie bhuna, and we both went with the pilau rice. As we prefer breads to rice with curries, we also had garlic naan to share.
The curries were pretty much the same colour gravy, which often means that these are using the same base stock. The veg in Soph’s dish were all cubed, which would indicate this is frozen, pre-prepared veg and not freshly chopped veg.
The rice was fine, and the naan was lovely and fresh but it just lacked flavour.

Dessert
We both opted for the chocolate ice cream, which was ok. It’s the same type of ice cream available on many menu del dias, though this was possibly the smallest portion ever. That said, it is included in their menu del dia at just 6,95 €,

What We Liked At Mr Singhs
Prompt service throughout the meal.
What Could Be Improved
After being surprised at how good the starters were, and it was clear these were all different shapes and sizes, so handmade, the quality of the mains wasn’t anywhere as near as good as the starters.
How Much Did It Cost At Mister Singhs Quesada
The total was 23,80 € which covered both menu del dias, our drinks, the additional naan and popadoms.
Would We Return To Mr Singhs in Quesada
Sadly it’s a no, from both of us. The main reason was the rather poor main course, which although being ‘alright’ wasn’t great, compared to other Indians we have tried such as Victoria Palace and Indian Ocean. The menu is rather limited and although 6.95 looks cheap, by the time you add a drink, a naan then you are paying the same as other Indian menu del dia prices.
