We’d noticed the Indian Ocean Restaurant Quesada as we had driven past and decided after our visit to the Chinese nearby that we’d need to try this place out. Let’s get this out there from the get-go: the sour taste was not about any of the food we were served!
The restaurant was clean and tidy, and the fans were on, so it was nice and cool.
It’s no secret I love a good curry; being from the Bradford area originally, I’ve been eating ‘proper’ curries for almost 45 years. Plus, we have travelled the globe, including India and Thailand, where we have had these authentic dishes firsthand. We are regulars at the Punjabi, but it’s always good to have other good options in case we want a change from our usual curry house in Spain.
What We Had To Eat
We said we wanted the menu del dia, but as this didn’t come with a starter, we said we wanted also to add a starter each.
I went for the Sheek Kebab, as I wanted to be able to compare this to our regular Indian. Soph ordered the Prawn Puri starter.

For our main courses, we opted for the Chicken Ceylon for me and a Chicken Tikka Massala for Soph; both of us went for the garlic naan.

What We Liked
The service was quick, and the food was excellent. The dishes were fresh and full of flavour, so no complaints there at all. The chicken was tender and moist, and the garlic naans were possibly some of the best we have had; they were so light and fluffy.
What Could Be Improved at the Indian Ocean Restaurant Quesada
There are a couple of things, the first being there is no printed menu showing the menu del dia. If there were a separate printed menu del dia, explaining which dishes were included, which were extra, what breads were included, etc., it would be so much easier.
The prawn puri was very tasty, but it was a bit stingy on the prawns. We have ordered the same dish at the Punjabi in Catral and were presented with a dish with several large prawns, so to have these very small, shrimp-like offerings was a bit disappointing.
The next issue is more frustrating. After our plates had been cleared, the staff member never offered dessert or coffee. Then there was another staff member just stood watching us as we chatted, and as there was no one coming back to us, we asked for the bill.
We paid by card, and the staff didn’t ask if we wanted to pay in Euros or Sterling; they took the payment in Sterling, which is bad form.
It was only as we walked outside we saw the chalkboard with the menu del dia offering written out, which clearly states a dessert or coffee. So basically, we had paid for the dessert or coffee, and none of the staff had even offered this to us. This is shocking, as I don’t believe for one minute that both, if not all three of the staff had simply forgotten to ask us.

How Much Did It Cost?
The bill in total ( including the coffee or dessert ) came to € 33.80.

Would We Return To Indian Ocean Restaurant Quesada
No, we would not be in a rush to return to the Indian Ocean Restaurant Quesada. If you are quite happy to short-change diners by not providing what was offered and paid for, then this leaves a bad taste. No matter how good the food or service is at any establishment, I do not expect to be ripped off.
We are not tourists who happened by while passing through or people here now and then to their holiday homes. We are residents out here; we eat out often, and this is why we are more than happy to try lots of different places.
How To Find Indian Ocean Restaurant Quesada
Go down the CV 905 from Ciudad Quesada to the roundabout where the garden centre is on the right. Take the 3rd exit (away from the garden centre) and follow that road to the next roundabout. The restaurant is on your left, and you can see it from the main road.
Take the exit up the main street, and you need to do a u-turn then and come back down on yourself; then, it will be the last right before you are back on the roundabout.
