Lawsons Quesada

Lawsons Quesada: Amazing Fishcakes & Cocktails.

HeyDaveHere, April 25, 2024April 24, 2024

We had a very leisurely lunch at Lawsons Quesada today. Soph had an hair appointment, and as her mum was across, she’d booked in for a hair cut too, a couple of hours later. We’d planned on having a drink or 2 here, then maybe moving on and grabbing lunch somewhere else, but the menu looked interesting so we ended up staying here.

Originally, as we were just having drinks, I went for a pint of Estrella, Soph had a Coke, and her mum a cafe con leche. The sun was out, it was a pleasant day, and we had the added free entertainment of people trying to park on the main street in spaces that were half the length of their actual cars.

What We Had At Lawsons

Drinks

The drinks started off with a pint, a coke, and a coffee. I squeezed 3 Old Fashioned cocktails. Soph and her mum had bottled water with their lunch, I had a small beer with my menu del dia, and then Soph had an alcohol-free Bellini while her mum had her turn with the extremely talented stylist, Greg Morgan.

Food

I went for the lunch menu del dia, Soph had the Club Sandwich with a side of sweet potato fries and her mum had Lamb Koftas and Potato Bravas.

My starter was boneless chicken thighs with a small side salad and a riata dip. The chicken was tasty, lean, and nicely presented. For my mains, although I was tempted by the burger option, I went for the homemade fishcakes. These were exquisite, to say the least. As soon as the plate was placed in front of me, I could smell the aroma of the fresh fish. There were 2 of these homemade beauties, and these were so fresh, flavorsome, and tasty that I enjoyed every mouthful. The chunky chips were a great accompaniment, too, but wow, those fishcakes!

Soph really enjoyed her club sandwich; it was filling, and she said she probably wouldn’t order the side of sweet potato fries next time as she was full. Her mum loved the lamb koftas and said the meat was tasty, lean, and really enjoyable. She really liked the potato bravas; the sauce wasn’t too hot in terms of spiciness, and the cream helped cool things down. I will add that she isn’t someone who enjoys spicy food as much as I do, but these did have a pleasant kick on the taste buds.

My dessert was a chocolate cake, a good sized piece and was fine, the chocolate sauce was rich and the dish was very nicely presented.

What We Liked At Lawsons

The service was really great; the 2 servers were kept very busy and worked well as a team. The place was full both inside and outdoors, so considering there were just the 2 staff serving, they managed really well.
The food was excellent; this was a chef-prepared and presented offering, not an out-of-the-freezer and into-the-microwave type meal! The drinks were good; my old Fashioneds were perfect, and the whole place was clean and tidy.

What Could Be Improved

There was nothing noticeable to suggest here.

How Much Did It Cost At Bar Lawsons

The total bill came to €94.65, BUT we were there for the best part of 4 hours, and I had 3 cocktails. But to break this down further.

Cokes which are the bottles are €2.30, the pints of draught Estrella €3.30. A cafe con leche is €1.70, the bottled waters are €2.50. Old Fashioned cocktails came in at €26.85 for the 3, so €8.95 each. Sophs mocktail Bellini was €8.00.

My menu del dia was €18.95, the lamb koftas €6.50, potato bravas €4.95. Soph’s huge club sandwich was €10.95, and the side of sweet potato fries at €3.00.

Would We Return To Lawsons Wine, Cocktail & Tapas Bar in Quesada

The simple answer here is; yes we would. That being the case, once we got home, we realised there had been errors on our bill. We’d got our first bill, which we thought we had been undercharged for as there was one of the food dishes and a side missing. Soph went to pay, pointed this out and they’d not added the side, the next bill was also missing a dish and then they gave the third bill, which she paid.

When we returned home, and I was doing this write-up, I saw there were two pints on this bill and two cokes, but we only had one of each. I think here, as we had originally sat outside and then moved indoors, they had transposed across the previous drinks and duplicated these onto the new table number. It’s not such a biggy, I guess, as these things can happen. Also, Soph’s mocktail was charged, we think, at the price for the alcoholic version.

How To Find Lawsons Quesada Wine, Cocktail & Tapas Bar

If you come into Quesada through the arches, the petrol station is on your left and the restaurant is just up on the left, past the Santander bank and before Sabadell. There is sometimes on street parking within a short walk.

Put the following into your satnav, if you are unsure of the area: 1B Avenida Las Naciones , Ciudad Quesada.

You can call them to book, 865 66 05 86, message them directly on Facebook, or drop them an email to Reservations@lawsonsbar.com.
