We visited El Faro Ciudad Quesada after booking a table for their chilled-out soul and other good vibes, Friday music evening. This was a nice, relaxed evening, ideal for kicking back and enjoying some good music. The atmosphere was friendly, with people enjoying their Friday night.
The bar is situated on a corner and overlooks a roundabout. Depending on how you look at this, you could laugh and say, “Dave can’t believe you took your good lady to a roundabout bar for a night out.”
My response would be that, actually, I took Soph out to a lovely little bar, playing good music, so we could kick back and admire the palm trees on the roundabout, which were gently moving in the cooling breeze.
Tim, the DJ and host, was entertaining, and his choice of music was pretty good. Sadly, he didn’t play all 4 of my requests; in fact, he only managed 1 out of the 4. So, next time, I will have to remind him of this.
We managed to get chatting with a couple of people, which made for a nice end to the evening. Meeting up as strangers but leaving as friends is always a bonus.
What We Had
I had Estrella Dam on draught and managed to squeeze in 3 pints. Soph was driving stuck to soft drinks. Towards the end of the evening, I managed to find room for a couple of vodkas too.
We both had a pork with homemade stuffing sandwich, which was very enjoyable and a good price at just 3.50 euros each. In fact, they were so good that we’d both eaten pretty much all of it before we even thought about taking a photo!
What We Liked About El Faro Ciudad Quesada
Super efficient staff, who did table service with a smile. Seeing happy staff, who were dancing and enjoying themselves while working hard to ensure all the customers were looked after is really nice.
Far too often, you will come across bars where the staff almost throw your food at you or slam your drinks on the table while scowling. NOT HERE !!! The staff were excellent. Lisa was the life and soul, and this does make a difference at times.
What Could Be Improved
We were not aware beforehand that there would be food available, so it would have been nice to have known this in advance, but this isn’t a big issue.
How Much Did It Cost?
The bill came to €32.50, which was good value in my eyes.
Pints of beer were €2.80, coke €2.00, and the vodkas were €3.00.
The pork rolls with homemade stuffing were €3.50 and delicious!
Would We Return To El Faro?
Yes, indeed, it was a nice evening. We’ll have to try their music quiz at some point, too.
How To Find El Faro Ciudad Quesada
It’s a doddle to get to El Faro Ciudad Quesada, especially if you shop at the Overseas Food Supermarket.
The best way is if you head towards The Food Co Spain (Ciudad Quesada), often called by local ex-pats, Tescos but instead of turning into their car park, continue down the street, so ‘Tescos’ is on your right. As you come to the roundabout, the bar is on the right, literally at the junction of the roundabout.
Alternatively, if you’re coming off the CV 905, Av, De Alcoy, it’s just as east to locate.
Turn onto Av De Salamanca, so Aldi is on your right. Come to the roundabout, and if you look to your left, you’ll see the bar on the corner.
There’s plenty of on-street parking in the area, but just around the corner is the car park where Consum is located and is opposite Little Leias, and which offers lots of parking bays.
Address: Av. Jerez de la Frontera, 03170 Cdad. Quesada, Alicante, Spain
Final Thoughts
You are best advised to book a table at the El Faro Ciudad Quesada for their events. The place fills quickly, and we gather that most weekends, especially in the summer, they are turning people away.
The drinks are a reasonable price; the staff are welcoming and friendly. It’s easy to find and there is some on-street parking, but you have plenty of car park spaces close by too. We’ll try to find time to get to one of their music quizzes and will do a write-up about that too, so keep an eye out for that one.
