We were at La Cantina today, and we still think this is the best tapas in Rojales. However, as always, we are more than willing to listen to other suggestions for places to visit. Soph and I have been coming here since they opened in August 2023 and they are still going strong.
Although it is the 18th December, it was still 22c and in the sun it was very pleasant. Now I’m not sure if it was the heat that brought out the idiot drivers today, but boy there was some really crap parking. Keep in mind this is a huge car park, out of 18 vehicles parked there today, 2 were obviously driven by total knobheads. The big black 4×4 Mercedes, with the silver horse figure on the bonnet, that basically chose not to park in any parking bay, but instead parked in the throughway was bad enough.
This was matched only by the light blue Citroen, where this idiot driver, actually parked across one of the entrance points from the side road into the car park. You seriously could not make this up today.

What We Had At La Cantina
We’d said we were going for tapas, but saw their menu del dia on their Facebook page, so said we’d have that instead. However, we changed our minds in the car park as we pulled up outside, where there were only 4 other cars, at that time, all neatly parked up!
Drinks
Soph asked for an Aquarius, and she was offered a choice of Naranja or Limon, so she went with the orange. I had a tanque of draught. I also finished off with a cafe con leche.

Tapas
We ordered a selection, starting off with pan y alioli. This was lovely, soft, fresh and warm bread with their very tasty alioli.

We also went with Magra, but we were informed this was unavailable today, so we switched this to albondigas, after the waiter suggested these instead. Very hot, tasty and plenty of tomato sauce, comes with a couple more pieces of bread to mop up the sauce. Tip here, is hold back the alioli pot, after you have finished your bread basket.

I went for the 5 piece portion of the Montaditos and these were as good as ever, served with some crisps as a garnish. As ever, these were nicely presented, tasty and filling.
Then to try something new we ordered the cooked beef cheek, the small 2 pieces portion. This was delightful, it was so tender it melted as you cut it with your fork. The rich sauce was wonderful and I’m glad we kept back some bread to mop this up.

To finish off, Soph ordered the apple strudel, which was a lovely serving, and very nicely presented too.

Cantina Rojales is situated on the ground of the Rojales Market. The correct address being; Malecon del Soto 1, Recinto Ferial, Rojales, 03170.
I could be an arse here and say look out for the abandoned cars, but it’s coming up to Christmas and Soph says I should be nice.
