We finally got around to visiting Cafeteria Las Ninfas in Los Montesinos, after it had been recommended / suggested to us by several people quite recently.
This was our first ever visit here to Las Ninfas, it’s easy to find by car and there is some on road parking near by.
Interestingly enough, when I happened to mention to friends we were coming here this week, one couple said they’d been before and to be aware there were no prices. My reply was, it’s not an issue, as long as the prices are fair and comparable to other local establishments.
I was not expecting to be paying 4.00€ for a tanque of beer though, not after paying 2.80€ yesterday in Torrevieja or 2.50€ the week before in Catral with a lunch!
Remember I’m originally from Yorkshire so I could go out with a €20 note and either have 5 pints at 4€ apiece or 8 pints at 2.50€, which is quite a difference.

What We Had
Drinks
I had a tanque of beer to start and Soph had her usual, Coke Zero. We then had the same again later on. The first drinks came with a dish of nuts, a nice touch.
Food
My plan was to order the same as we’d had the day before, so we could do a like for like comparison, but as there was no tuna tostada on the menu, we changed a little. People at the next table had ordered tortilla and as the server walked past us, we both noticed how big the portion was, so I suggested we have this instead of the tostada.
Chorizo
We were offered different types of sausages, but we opted for the spicy ones. These were tasty, a good portion size.

Albondigas
In a nice tomato sauce which was rich, these were very hot and there were seven in the portion.

Tortilla
This was a proper slab of a portion, but this was also very light, moist and tasty. I really enjoyed this.

Bread
We had to ask for and we actually got charged for it too.

What We Liked
Friendly service, nice small terrace. I like the tortilla a lot too.
What Could Be Improved
Prices on the menus!!!!! Also, this is the only place I can recollect in years where you don’t get any bread with a tapas such as albondigas or chorizo.
How Much Did It Cost
The bill today at Las Ninfas was 29.00€, quite an eye opener to be honest.
Tanque of beer 4.00€, Coke Zero 2.00€
Albondigas came in at 6.50€, Chorizo was 5.00€ , Tortilla was 4.50€, and the bread was an additional 1.00€.

Would We Return
To be honest, probably not. As nice as the place is and the food at Las Ninfas is good, there are too many negatives here.
We don’t live in Los Montesinos though we do venture out into a lot of the surrounding towns and villages to eat, drink and socialise.
I like to know what I am paying for things and here you are basically shopping blind. We could have had a menu del dia each with an additional drink for the same price and that’s at many restaurants we have visited on our travels.
How To Find Cafeteria Las Ninfas
From Quesada, the easy route is:
Come down the CV-905 towards Torrevieja, but at the roundabout take the first left to the CV-945 towards Los Montesinos.
Come into the town and then take the left turn onto the CV-943 towards La Marquesa. Go past the town hall on the left, then follow the road a short distance and then you’ll see a small pizza place on the right. You’ll be turning right just after this, there is a sign for Las Ninfas, easily visible.
From the AP7, come off and follow the signs for Los Montesinos. You’ll come into town from the other direction. This means the turn off for the CV-943 towards La Marquesa will be to your right.
They don’t appear to be active on social media, so the following is from the town hall listing.
Dirección: C. Miguel Hernández, 4
Código postal: 03187
Municipio: Los Montesinos.
