Tuesday saw us in Torrevieja and we hate a bite to eat at Go Café Express, while we were there.
Feeling very pleased with myself as Soph and I took my car in for its first ever ITV. I knew it should pass, as it was recently painfully serviced, but more impressed with the fact we did it ourselves, kind of. The staff must now only let Spaniards take their own vehicles all the way through, as we and an Irish chap and a Dutch couple were all told to get out of our cars, leave the engine running and walk to the end of the building to await our vehicles. I presume it’s so any language issues don’t slow down the very efficient process.
So, to celebrate our success, I said to Soph “let’s pop next door for a drink” ( Yes, any reason, I know ) and grab something to eat. This place had been suggested to me by a couple if not more friends, so we gave it a try.

What We Had At Go Café Express Torrevieja
We got a table outside, in the shade and one of the servers came across quickly to take our order.
Drinks
To keep things simple, I had a tanque and Soph had a Coke Zero, which was a canned Coke.
Food
While looking at the menu, I’d suggested we try a couple of tapas dishes and also a tostada. There was the bread basket bought out to the table, this was soft and fresh bread.

Tapas
The first tapas was chorizo in cerveza.
You know when a dish is placed on the table and the aroma hits your nose and makes you lick your lips. Well this was one of those dishes. What we both liked here too, was the finely chopped onion and garlic etc, in the dish, just adding extra taste and flavour.
A nice sized portion, very tasty and very succulent.

The second tapas was Albondigas.
Once again a good sized portion, these were not your shop bought, run of the mill albondigas. Great texture, tasty and very enjoyable. As you can see these were all different shapes and sizes.

Tostada
For the toastada, I went with the tuna and cheese. Plenty of filling, lovely fresh bread, and again a good sized serving.

What We Liked
Super efficient service, staff are welcoming and friendly. Great menu too. I ordered a tanque and got a full glass too, none of this 2/3rds beer, 1/3 head served here, thankfully.

What Could Be Improved
I’m hard pressed to think of any negatives here. If I was going to be picky, the forks brought out wrapped in a serviette, the serviette was wrapped around a wet fork straight from the dishwasher ( at a guess ) so was damp. No a huge issue as there were serviettes on the table too.
How Much Did It Cost At Go Café Express
For a drink each, a couple of wonderful tapas dishes and also a great tuna tostada, the bill came to 14.90€
Drinks
My large beer was 2.80€, not the cheapest around, I hear you say, but it was a full pint! Sophie’s Coke was 1.90€
Food
The chorizo tapas was 4.50 €, the albondigas was 3.50€. The tostada with cheese and tuna was only 2.20€.
All in all, good value for money.

Would We Return To Go Café Express
Yes, we are going to come back for a menu del dia or eat off the menu, we liked this so much today.

How To Find Go Café Express – La Brasería
If you’re coming in from Quesada as though heading into town along the CV-905, you need to keep an eye out for the large Hiperbar supermarket on the left, because at that roundabout you take the first exit to the right. This is also signposted for the ITV centre there.
Then take the first left turn towards the ITV testing station.
Their address is Av. los Nenúfares, 03184 Torrevieja, Alicante. If you know where the ITV station in Torrevieja, then it is right next door.
They have a Facebook page that is updated often, with menus and more.
Check out the Google Maps for more detailed driving directions.
Granted this is not a tourist, picturesque location, but between you and me, I prefer these types of places to the tourist hot spots where you pay double or even more.
