We went to the Blue Star Bar Cafe down in La Marina, opposite the San Anton vets. I had seen these guys advertise on Facebook quite often recently and we’d said on our next jaunt out there, we’d have to call in and give them a visit. When cafes are advertising on social media photos of their freshly baked pies and cakes, then it’s always worth investigating further, just for research purposes of course.
This is a friendly place that seems to have regulars. We took a table inside as the rain had just started again, ordered drinks ( a mug of coffee with milk for me, Soph going for a mug of tea ), and asked to see the menu.
It wasn’t lunchtime, and I don’t usually eat breakfast, but I fancied the Cornish pasty while Soph went for the cheese scone.
While waiting, we heard the young lad who had served us say to one of the other staff they had no more mugs. So they sent a guy out to buy new ones after the server apologised to us. The other guy returned after 5 minutes but then proceeded to chat with other customers for a couple of minutes. Meanwhile, we were still without refreshments. Not such a huge inconvenience, but just a slight niggle.
The pasty was decent enough, full of filling and very hot, as I’d requested it warmed up. Soph had a cheese scone; it was really tasty and a little more decadent with the melted cheese on the top.

€7 in total which was excellent value for money, especially as these were mugs of tea and coffee.
I guess this explains why they were so busy as people were having Eggs Benedict, sandwiches, Full English and much more off their menu. Just as we were ready to leave, a regular came in to get a pasty to take away. He said he’d also take a piece of the mandarin orange cheesecake, which looked tempting.
Getting There
How to find them is pretty simple, they are just down the same street as La Estacion and even on the same side of the road.
