Enreo Catral

Wonderful Lunch At Enreo Catral

HeyDaveHere, May 8, 2025May 9, 2025

Soph and I went out for our Thursday morning ‘ coffee’ get together, but this time we went into town itself. We had said beforehand we’d have lunch out, so we decided to return to Enreo Catral, where we had been in before, both just for drinks but also for lunch too. I know I said before that this place is a hidden gem, but trust me when I say, it really is!

Our visit today was slightly different, as usually there is just the two of us, or sometimes there might be three, if we have someone across staying with us. After mentioning what our plans were, while at our coffee group, we ended up with six of us going across the road for lunch.

We decided we would have their menu del dia, which is slightly different to most restaurants. Here you have 7 or 8 dishes to choose from, you select a couple and then one comes out as your first course, the second comes out then as ( yup, you guessed it ) your second course.

What We Had

We all ordered drinks while perusing the menu. Soph had a bottle of water, I kept things as expected and tried their beer, with a tanque of Aguila beer.

Starters On The Table

We were brought out fresh, house salads to start and some lovely, fresh bread. The bread went down really well, so the staff brought out a second piece.

First Course

My choice here was chicken, which came with potatoes. This was translated as sticky fingers, so I was unsure what I was getting, but it was tasty when it arrived. Soph ordered this, but as her second plate.
The potatoes were nicely cooked, well seasoned, and the chicken had a rich BBQ type sauce drizzled over the top.

Soph had the chickpea salad for her first course. Beautiful presentation and full of flavours. It was a light dishes but very tasty.

Second Course

As I said above, Soph had for her second the same as I had for my first, the chicken dish. I for my second had ordered the ‘cerdo’, so I knew it was a pork dish of some sort.
What arrived was a generous portion of breaded pork, with a nice sauce over the top. The pork was lean and tender, the sauce was tasty, and the parmesan cheese added that extra bit of flavour. Once again, the potatoes were nicely seasoned.

Dessert

Our server reeled off 6 different desserts, 4 of the group asked for the chocolate cake, so I followed their lead. Although I am not really a dessert fan, this was a really nice way to finish the meal. I had also asked for a bombon coffee, just because I have not had one for weeks. This, too, was really good; it went very nicely with the dessert.

What We Liked

Prompt and attentive service throughout. The place was spotlessly clean and tidy. The food was really good and excellent value.

What Could Be Improved

There is nothing at all that springs to mind.

How Much Did It Cost For Lunch At Enreo Catral

The bill worked out at 13€ per person for a menu del dia. My bombon was an additional 1.40€ on top, but we all said this was really good value.

Would We Return To Enreo Catral

Naturally, this is a yes to this question. It is well decorated, it looks the part, giving a feel of being a restaurant and not just a bar doing food. The food is really good and the price is great value.

How To Find Enreo Restaurant In Catral

Getting there is a breeze.
Head down the main street in Catral. Ideally, find a parking spot before reaching the traffic lights. From there, continue on foot through the lights into the one-way stretch of Calle la Purísima. Walk past Bar Venetian on your left, and when you reach the junction, you’ll see the ice cream parlour opposite Pizzería-Kebab Manolo — take a right down the small one-way side street. Walk past the butcher’s and take the first right.

Shortcut via Pizzería Ovi:
If you’re walking past Pizzería Ovi, you can nip down the side of the building, take a left, and you’re there. Just make sure that if you’re on the left-hand side of the road, cross at the crossing by Ovi and head straight down the side of the pizza place.
Their details are on their Facebook page too, if you need them.
