A Tale Of 3 Tostadas Con Jamon Serrano: Which is The Best?

HeyDaveHere, October 31, 2023October 31, 2023

We decided to do another tale of 3 tostadas, but this time we opted for tostadas con jamon serrano. As nice as the traditional tostada con tomate is, it makes a nice change to add cheese or ham just to mix things up a bit.

This time, we ventured out towards Formentera de Segura. This street, Avenue de Palacios, has several bars and places to eat and is known locally as disco alley.

For ease of comparing like for like, we placed the exact same order at all 3 of these locations. A cafe con leche, a black tea ( té negro ) and the tostadas con jamon serrano, one to share.

1.Dsas3

What We Had

We ordered a cafe con leche, a té negro and a tostada con jamon serrano to share. Soph said this was a really nice cup of tea.

How Much Did It Cost At Dsas3?

This was the cheapest of the three, coming in at just 3.90 €

Overview Of Dsas3

Dsasa 3 is a lovely welcoming place where we received prompt, friendly service. The serrano was the least flavorsome of the three we had today but was still very acceptable and great value for money.

2. El Barrio

What We Had

Once again we ordered a cafe con leche, a té negro and a tostada con jamon serrano to share. Here the tostada was served with olive oil to add, if required.

This was the more expensive of the three places, but it was still a very affordable price of just 4.80€

Overview Of El Barrio

The tostada was nice, with fresh bread, and the serrano had great taste. This was possibly the tastiest of the three for the ham. Service was friendly and quick.

3. Bar Los Carlotas

What We Had

As before we had a cafe con leche, a té negro and a tostada con jamon serrano to share. What made the difference here was the tostada came with olive oil and salt to add, plus it was served with a knife, little touches but this is a tight competition!

How Much Did It Cost At Bar Los Carlotas?

The bill here was 4.60 € and this was the middle of the different locations

Overview Of Bar Los Carlotas

Good service, and the interior is nicely decorated and spacious. The coffee was really nice, and this was the best of the three today, with really tasty serrano ham topping the tostada.

Final Thoughts on the Tostadas Con Jamon Serrano Test

To be honest, very little to choose between all of these eateries. The first was the cheapest, had the best tea, but the serrano was the least tasty. The most expensive was the second place we visited, but here the Serrano was probably the tastiest. The winner, though, was the final location, Bar Los Carlotas, which had good coffee, and a good tostada, but the fact you were served olive oil, salt, and a knife tipped the balance.

Would We Go Back?

Yes, and to each and every one of these three locations. There was nothing negative about any of them. Our scores on the doors came down to personal taste and preference, nothing more. All served good-sized coffees and nice tostadas con jamon serrano, and all offered friendly service from staff and great value for money.
