We took a drive down to Torrevieja, as we wanted to visit the Shamrock Irish Bar and try one of their breakfasts. They had been sharing images of their food on Facebook and so we thought we’d head out there and give it a try.
I very rarely have breakfast, even less do I have a cooked breakfast, but today I really fancied a ‘fry up’. With several options on the menu for the cooked breakfasts, I decided to steer clear of the Belly Buster that I had originally thought about trying. The Large Breakfast is more than ample. “Eggs, two bacon, two sausages, two tomatoes, hash browns, baked beans, mushrooms, black pudding, white pudding, and 2x toast, what more could you wish for?
This is a breakfast that is cooked to order, and it was a lovely ‘clean’ breakfast. By this, I mean there was no burnt oil smell coming from the open kitchen, the egg whites were white, and there was no grease on the plate. It was that good we both cleared our plates, not needing to eat again till we had some toast in the evening.
What We Had at The Shamrock Irish Bar Torrevieja
It’s been a while since I had a Guinness, in fact it was last year, so I thought I best try one here. Soph had a Coke Zero. Originally I was going to try their Belly Buster Breakfast, but at the last minute bottled it and went for the Large Breakfast instead. Soph was hurridly pushed into having the same, as I was hungry!
What We Liked at Shamrock Irish Bar Torrevieja
Friendly service, a decent pint of Guinness, and the food was excellent both in terms of taste and value for money.
What Could Have Been Improved at Shamrock Irish Pub
Nothing important springs to mind, but if I wanted to be really picky, it would be good to have a check-back while eating. That said, maybe the staff know how good the food is and don’t feel the need.
How Much Did It Cost?
The two big breakfasts and both drinks came to €19.20 in total. This is excellent value for money, with the Large Breakfasts being €7.50 each. The Guinness was €4.50, and Sophs Coke was €1.70.
Would We Return To The Shamrock Irish Pub
Absolutely, yes. The menu has plenty of options, and there was a nice, relaxed atmosphere in the place. Service was friendly, and the food was good.
They appeared to have music acts and singers on during the evening, and despite it being mid-morning on the 17th of January, there were four other tables in use while we were eating. The pub is active on their Facebook page, too, which is a great help in knowing what’s on offer.
How To Find The Shamrock Irish Bar Torrevieja
This is where it was interesting, as we were driving down from Quesada. The sat-nav took us to the next roundabout, told us to turn back on ourselves and head back down the dual carriageway. It seemed to suggest the place was on the right, and you’d be able to pull up outside, but obviously not correct. We turned off the dual carriageway at the next roundabout on our way back toward Quesada and then found our way.
So, coming from Quesda, before you get to Mercadona on the right, at the roundabout where you will see Iberia Motors car sales and the Gas Express petrol station, take the 3rd exit onto Pl. Tolosa.
At the first junction, turn right onto Av. Abanto and follow this all the way to the end of the road, then turn right and the Shamrock Pub, is just around the corner, on the right.
