Paco’s Restaurante: A Brilliant Lunch You Need To Try

HeyDaveHere, November 20, 2023November 20, 2023

We had driven past Paco’s Restaurante when coming from Rojales heading to the AP7 but took the wrong turn. It is a little in the middle of nowhere but it’s definitely worth checking out the location on Google Maps and giving it a go.

To give this place its correct name, it is Restaurante Asador Casa Paco, but everyone just keeps it simple and calls it Paco’s. If you want a really good lunch, then you must get out your sat nav and find this wonderful place just outside Rojales, but don’t forget to book.

At the time of writing, 15th November 2023, this is their lunchtime service menu.

Their paella+BBQ menu € 13

  1. Paella (Tuesday to Friday) or first course of the day.
  2. Salad.
  3. Second BBQ meat or grilled fish.
  4. One drink per person.
  5. Homemade dessert.
  6. Coffee.

What We Had At Paco’s Restaurante

We had the fixed-price lunch menu.

Bread and Salad

They brought bread and aioli to the table to start with. The bread was fresh, and the aioli was delicious; if you like garlic, you’ll love this. Next came the house salad.

Starters

Soph and I both went for the same dish, the seafood paella. Full of flavour but equally important, it had plenty of seafood in there, with a big juicy prawn each, plus mussels, calamari, and more. What we both liked about this dish is it was cooked so that you got all the tastes and flavours, including a tiny amount of the “burnt” bit. This is the sign of a great paella, when the crispy underneath is there to enjoy, without it actually being burnt.

Mains

Lamp chop was Soph’s choice, and as tempted as I was to follow suit, I decided to go for the plate of sausages. These were a mix of sausage, chorizo, and Spanish black pudding, served with chips. Soph’s pork chop was a beast of a piece of meat, but it was pure melt in the mouth, cooked to perfection. As great as the sausages were, I was feeling a little meat envy when she let me have a taste!

Dessert

Almond cake is what I chose, while Soph had the cheesecake. Both these were fine, your typical Spanish dessert-type offerings. Those who know me understand I am not really a dessert eater, I’d rather have a cheeseboard and a glass of port.

We also had a shot to finish, both having Baileys, and I also had a lovely cafe con leche.

What We Liked at Paco’s Restaurant

This was a Wednesday lunchtime, but the place was busy. The ambience had a really nice feel and there were several different nationalities eating there.

The food was very good, the staff was super attentive, and they were busy. Actually, they were very busy, but they worked well as a team.

To be able to sit and watch your meat main course being cooked on the huge indoor BBQ is great.

What Could Be Improved

This was a faultless service that we received, and all of the staff were on point throughout the visit.

How Much Did It Cost At Restaurante Asador Casa Paco

This very filling meal came in at €24.80. In my wisdom, I had ordered a large beer, and this was not included on the fixed-price menu but was part-charged which seems a very fair approach to take.

Would We Return To Paco’s

This is another restaurant here that we would return to without hesitation. It’s good to see staff who are super efficient, the food was superb, and there were no complaints at all.

How To Find Paco’s Restaurante

The address for Paco’s Restaurante is Ctra. CV 920, km 20, Rojales, but it’s shown here on Google Maps too, if you find that useful.

966 71 39 17 or 661 36 22 95 if you need to ring them.

They’re open Tuesday to Sunday, from 8:00 a.m. to 16:00 p.m and closed on a Monday but it’s always best to check their website, for further information.
