So, we decided to do a road trip and headed off down towards San Miguel De Salinas, but on the way took a little detour to Jacarilla where we stopped off at La Fortaleza for a drink and to share a tapas between the two of us. This location is across the road from our next stop, the Bar-Restaurante Vistabella.
We sat on the terrace, being entertained by the lovely grey parrot, who was chuntering to himself and giving the odd sarcastic wolf whistle.
What We Had
I went in and ordered, a small Radler for myself and a Coke Zero for Soph. For the tapas I went for the Chorizo. The service was friendly, the drinks brought out to us along with the tapa and bread.
The bread was nice and fresh, and the chorizo was very tasty. There is in a nearby town a butcher who makes their own chorizo, etc, and we did wonder if these were sourced from there, as they were really good. They do a nice lunch menu and publish on their Facebook page, so you can see what the dishes are.
The bill came to 8.50 in total, and we paid in cash before leaving. The small beer was 2.00, Soph had a large bottled Coke at 2.50, and the tapa was 4.00
There is a huge car park here, so no parking worries and there is plenty of seating available.
Would We Return To La Fortaleza Jacarilla?
Basically, yes, next time we are in the area, we’ll probably call in for a different tapa or try the menu del dia here. When we drove past a week later the place was very busy, so it looks like they do a good lunchtime trade, so their menu del dia is on the cards, for sure. Be sure to check back for that when we do the write up.
