Dog Firkin Breakfast

Dog & Firkin Breakfast – A Sunday Treat

HeyDaveHere, December 19, 2025December 19, 2025

Last Sunday, the 7th, we went out and while we were in Catral, we had a Dog & Firkin Breakfast. Yes you read that right, I had a breakfast and as Soph said she fancied a cooked breakfast, we called in here.

I’d had a breakfast in here one Saturday morning, while watching the Lions rugby with some mates and after friends mentioned they been in here recently and said it was good value, I suggested to Soph we should call here.

What We Had

We both had a mug of tea to drink and for the food, Soph went for the small English Breakfast, while I was going to have the same but add black pudding, I saw on the menu they do a North Of The Border Breakfast, which comes with black pudding, so I went with that. Mine also had the square Lorne sausage and a potato scone.

With these size of breakfast you are offered a choice of beans or tomatoes, we both went for beans. The food was served nice and fresh, cleanly presented.

What We Liked

Brilliant service from Joe, he was grafting setting up for Sunday lunches while serving customers both inside and seated outside with breakfasts and drinks.
This is an English pub in Spain, if you’ve never been but they do great value food and it’s not half bad, to be honest.
There are Christmas decorations up, the large screen televisions had the burning log fire screensavers playing.

What Could Be Improved

Zilch, this is what it is, as I say above, a little bit of England, out here in the sun. What does make me smile is that you actually get Spaniards coming in for a drink!

What Did Our Dog & Firkin Breakfast Cost

For both our breakfasts, mine the North Of The Border, Sophs the Dog & Firkin Breakfast and two mugs of tea, the bill was just 14.80€ We did not get a receipt here!

Would We Return

Although I tend not to have breakfast, if I was in the mood for a full English maybe as a brunch, as we did here today, then yes we’d come back here for sure.

It is rare we venture into what we call the ‘ Brit bars ‘ out here in Spain, this is mainly due to areas we lived before in Murcia and Granada, there were no such bars, everything was pure Spanish unless we did a 30 minute drive. However, they also do a good pint of Guinness here too, so that is another reason to call.

How To Find The Dog & Firkin

Their address is Calle Valencia 82. Catral, Alicante, and they have a phone number too~ 865 77 53 82, listed on their Facebook page.
