Costillas Locas At Guardamar Del Segura

Costillas Locas At Guardamar Del Segura- WOW!

HeyDaveHere, May 6, 2025May 6, 2025

Today we had lunch at Costillas Locas which is on Lemon Tree Road heading out towards Guardamar Del Segura. This was the former Taste Of Peru Don Pepe restaurant building, which we had visited a few times previously.

Soph and I pass by here at least once every week both directions, often twice a week. We’d seen the builders in there for a while, then saw the colour scheme of the exterior and joked to ourselves, this was going to become a gentlemans club or similar. Granted this was a long time before the signage and branding appeared, but it did make us chuckle about this.

Anyway, we booked a table for lunch, as their menus they share on their social media, always sound nice and interesting.

They are taking part in the El Raso Ruta De La Tapa this year, which we’re attending too.

What We Had At Costillas Locas

Before arriving we’d decided to have the menu del dia, so that is what we ordered.

Drinks

I asked for a beer and had a cana, I did have a second during my meal. Soph opted this time for a bottled water.

Food

The menu del dia has a choice of two starters, two mains and a dessert or coffee. We discovered the dessert is one choice, a house dessert.

To Start

First of all we were brought out a small piece of the most wonderful tasting tortilla type dish. Packed with flavours, this was unexpected, but certainly most welcome.

Bread basket

Next came a basket of very fresh bread ( with butter portions ) and the first dish which was Peruvian Chupe. * This is a clear soup originating from South American, in this case it was made with potato and chicken, sweet corn. A very light dish.

For my starter I had mussels in a Neopolitan tomato sauce, very tasty, although I would have preferred a few more, they were that good..

Soph tried the chicken Caesar salad, which was a very generous sized portion.

Mains

For me it was the chicken skewers, Soph went for the hake roulade with prawns.

The chicken came with a Tzatziki sauce, fries ( which were seasoned ) and a lovely side salad. I am struggling to remember when I last had chicken on a skewer that was as tasty and as moist as this was today. It was delicious!

The Hake roulade with prawns came with roast oven potatoes and in a white wine sauce. Another dish that had flavour and taste.

Dessert

This was a lemon sorbet with red berry compote and it was very refreshing. I was going to have a coffee, but changed my mind at the last minute, but enjoyed this too.

What We Liked

Not sure where to start here. The decor is funky, the background music is unobtrusive. The service was friendly and efficient. You are given a towelette here, for cleaning your hands after eating, which is a great idea. When we came to pay there were a couple of lollipops too.

Lolly pop time

The star of the visit, though, was the food. Everything ticked all the boxes. This is restaurant quality food at a very affordable price.

What Could Be Improved

Personally I’d prefer to see a second dessert option on the menu del dia, but as I often do, I’ll just have a coffee to finish.

How much Did It Cost?

The bill came in at 40.00€  for lunch at Costillas Locas today.
For the food, the menu del dia is 16.90€  each.
Drinks are small beers 2€  each, while the water was 2.20€ .

Would We Return To Costillas Locas At Guardamar Del Segura

Without a doubt, and we are going to be there for the tapas trail too. We saw people order a burger today, these looked really good. Plus, we also saw one diner order a rack of ribs, which, although not really my thing, I have to say, they too, looked really nice. So next time we’re at Costillas Locas for a lunch, I might try a burger.

We visited the Restaurant Budapest Quesada today for their well-advertised lunch offering.
