We called into Casa Pepe Dolores for lunch and was blown away at just how good this place is especially the value for money. I think we have tried a couple of times, but they had been closed, so it was great to get here to try the food. This place has been recommended to us by at least 3 different friends, so it was on our list.
What We Had At Casa Pepe
We both went for the menu del dia here, choosing to sit outdoors in the sunshine, even though they have a lovely, large dining room.
First of all, I said we were wanting the menu del dia, and they came for our drink order. We ordered our drinks, and then they came to take our food order.
Drinks
Soph asked for a Coke Zero, I just simply asked for a cerveza. The coke was a can, which is the usual with a lunch menu, my beer however was a pint, which was really good.
At the end of lunch, we were offered coffee, so I indulged in a Bombon and this was really nice, so much so I forget to get a photo of it.

Food
First we were brought out the bread basket, along with alioli and tomato. The bread was nice and fresh, the alioli was very tasty.
This was quickly followed by individual house salads. Again, these were fresh and enjoyable.

The charming lady who served us, spoke English as well as Spanish, she had the menu on her notepad and read it out to us.
Starters.
Soph went for mixed Paella so I opted for a chicken stew. Both dishes were generous in size and really enjoyable. There was plenty of meat in the Paella and Soph said she enjoyed this starter.

What I liked about mine was there was Morcilla ( the Spanish variant of black pudding ) in mine, which is something I really do like. The chicken was really tender too.

Mains.
I was going to go with chicken, but changed my mind at the last minute, partly as I had had chicken as my starter. So, for a change, I had Salmon, while Soph went for the Hake (Merluza). Both these came with chips and a fried egg and both our eggs were soft, runny yolks, they were ideal!

I liked my salmon, it was a nice sized portion and hit the spot. Soph really enjoyed her Hake, she said it was the best piece of merluza she’d had for a while. Neither of us had any bones in the fish either, which is another plus point in the scheme of things.

Desserts.
What I liked here was the male staff member came and cleared our plates, then came back with a tray with the 3 different desserts on, to show us the options. Soph chose the ice cream ( a Cornetto type of icecream ) while I went for a cold custard and chocolate concoction, which was actually damn good.

What We Liked
Everything, basically. The service was very friendly, welcoming and this combined with the food meant this was a really nice lunch time visit.
What Could Be Improved
There’s nothing major that we thought needed mentioning, Soph didn’t get a receipt when she paid, but it eas easy enough to remember the price, as we mention below.
How Much Did It Cost?
The total bill came in at 22.00€ and we questioned it to make sure they had included everything, and it was correct.
So I personally had a bread basket, a house salad, a starter, a main, a dessert, I also had a Bombon coffee to finish and my drink with my meal was a large beer, and this cost for me just 11€, which is outstanding value
Would We Return To Casa Pepe Dolores
If you were a gambling person, you’d be winning here, if you were betting that the answer to this is YES. It is a traditional, no frills – just the real deal Spanish bar and restaurant. The place gets busy around 2pm, so we tend to try to get to places from 1.30 onwards. Their menu del dia offering here is excellent value for money, plus judging by how busy they were as were were leaving, plenty of Spanish people think the same.
How To Find Casa Pepe in Dolores
Their address is C. San Fernando, 32, 03150 Dolores and they are on Google Maps here, for easy reference.
If you’re coming on the main road CV-855 from Almoradi end, then they are to your left. So, at the roundabout where the bar is on the corner, come off here and take the first right onto Av. Príncipe de Asturias.
