We were early for a lunch booking at Browns and after parking up we noticed Paddy’s Point La Zenia, so me, being me, decided to call in and sample a pint of the black stuff, just for research purposes. The idea was easier than the actual application of this idea, as all the tables were full and in use.
To give you an idea, I am not talking about 3 or 4 tables; there must be over 25 tables outside this place. Every table had people eating, and the food looked and smelled nice. I said to Soph, ‘ Look how busy this place is; we’ll have to try here for food one day, but looks like we’ll have to go elsewhere for a drink.’
Literally, the second these words came out of my mouth, a couple at a table right next to the door got up and left, so we dived into the seats.
Like something out of a children’s TV programme, a member of staff appeared and asked us if we wanted a menu as she was clearing the table. I informed her we were just there for a quick drink. So, I ordered myself a pint of Guinness, and Soph went for a Coke.
If anyone reading this is from or has visited Leeds, this place with the long alleyway reminded me of Whitelocks Alehouse. Whitelock’s is the oldest pub in Leeds, first founded in 1715 as The Turk’s Head before being taken over by the Whitelock family in the 1880s. But back to Spain…..
Drinks came quickly enough, considering how busy the place was. We did ask to pay at that point, too, as we had a schedule to meet. I savoured my cold pint of Guinness and was reading the cocktail menu on the wall, ticking off mentally a couple I would not mind trying out.
The second we were finishing our drinks and standing up, a guy asked if we were leaving and if he could have our table. This is just how busy this place was on 24th September!

A pint of draught Guinness for myself, and as Soph was driving home, she went for a coke. As you can see, it was a hot day, and the Guinness was good! I only just managed to remember to take a photo before finishing it off.
What We Liked
Keeping in mind this was just a drink visit, the service was very well organised, the team worked well together, very efficient as well as super friendly. Food was coming out very quickly and empty plates were heading back in. The staff was super pro-active, always checking tables for empties or for taking orders; they really did have this down to a fine art and something that other venues could take a lesson from.

Our bar bill came to a very pleasing €6.20, made even better due to the Guinness being superb.
Would We Return To Paddy’s Point La Zenia
I had planned to come back after lunch at Browns to watch the Liverpool match. But after the Sunday lunch, I really felt it wouldn’t be a good ending to then go and have a few more pints of Guinness so we headed home instead. As I type this up, we are looking at dates for a return, but next time, it will be to eat as well as re-testing the Guinness, purely for quality control purposes, you understand!
