La Cantina Rojales Delightful Tapas

HeyDaveHere, September 17, 2024September 17, 2024

We called back to La Cantina Rojales because were driving through Rojales and wanted to visit a couple of the small, local, back street bars that we have been wanting to try out for ages, but there is never any parking or they are always packed. So as this was the case, yet again we decided to pop to La Cantina for a quick drink.
As we approached we could see at least 5 tables were full, and as we walked in the aroma of the food just made my nostrils twitch.

This is one of those ” safe places “, and I don’t mean in terms of safety or security. We use this term to mean, it’s a place we visit and consistently get great food, great service and the prices are good.

What We Had At La Cantina Rojales

Drink

I was driving today, so had just one tanque of Mahou. Soph had a couple of soft drinks, Coke Zeros were her pick.

Cantina Bread And Alioli

Food

We ordered several tapas dishes, starting off with the bread and alioli. We always have this when we are here, either as part of the menu del dia or just as a dish to enjoy with a drink.

I really fancied the mussels, so I went for the mejillones. These were delightful, nicely spiced, slightly picante but full of flavour.

Next came out the Montaditos, we went for the small portion which is 5 of these beauties.

Finally and I have to admit, these were not needed, as we were full, we the meatballs. Soph tends to order albondigas if we are out having tapas, so it’s nice to be able to compare the quality from different restaurants.

What We Liked

The service was great as usual, the toilets spotless but the food was excellent. They were quite busy with 6 tables, including a couple of tables with 5 or 6 people on each, but there were no issues or delays.

What Could Be Improved

Absolutely nothing, nada here. We have been as a couple, we have been in a group of 3 and 4 here before. We have also been as a group of about 18 people and on each and every visit, service and food has been fantastic. Today was no different.

What Did It Cost Today

Our bill for the visit today was €28.60 overall.

Drinks

My large beer was a very reasonable €2.80 and Soph had the large bottled Coke Zero which were €2.40 each.

Food.

The wonderful mussels were €5.00, the same as the meatballs. The bread and alioli was €2.50 for a large basket and the 5x montaditos were €8.50 for the plate of 5.

Would We Return To La Cantina

Without any hesitation if we were in Rojales. There’s always plenty of parking and the service is always very welcoming. Combine this with great prices, excellent food and there’s not a lot more you could want really. It’s dog friendly too, so there were people who had walked down with the dogs, all of which were well behaved!

How To Find This Venue

If you know where the Thursday market is held in Rojales, then you know where to go, as it’s the far end of the car park there.

The link below is for Google Maps.
