First, this is my opinion on the best curry in the Vega Baja, as with any food recommendation, it’s subjective to personal taste. For perspective here, I was brought up not too many miles from Bradford, so I have been eating curries for 45 years. This includes Indian dishes, Pakistani dishes and Bangladeshi dishes. Soph and I have spent time in India, including Goa, and a lot of time in both Dubai and Thailand, so we have had the authentic dishes there too.
Anyway, enough of the waffle; we went out for my birthday and went to Blissful Bites, once again.
What We Had.
Usually we just have poppadoms to share and then a main course with a naan. I really fancied onion bhajis, so ordered a portion of these to share too.
The poppadoms were lovely and fresh, the pickle tray packed full of flavour.
The onion bhajis were fantastic. Not at all oily, beautifully seasoned, cooked perfectly and very enjoyable. We had more or less finished the starters before I decided we’d do photos so there are none of the starter.

Mains
Usually, my go to dish here is the Lamb Ra-Ra but I decided to try something different. Soph has previously had ( and really enjoyed ) the Chicken Balchao. This was my choice for this evening. I ordered a Peshwari naan as my side dish.

Soph was unsure what to have and I suggested the Supreme Balti, as it sounded an interesting mix of flavours. She also pushed the boat out and went with a Keema naan as a side.
My dish was stunning in presentation. The flavours matched the presentation, immaculate. Not crazy spicy, but I’d asked for it normal, yet there was just that little tingle on the tongue after finishing it.
Soph had the Supreme Balti, which was served in a traditional style balti bowl. As soon as I saw it, I said to her ” that will be tasty, it looks just like the curries we used to get back in Bradford”.

On her first mouthful, I could see by her facial expression that it was quite spicy. I did the gentlemanly thing and tasted it to ensure it wasn’t too hot; it was delicious. This dish really did take me back to an old fashioned, traditional curry.
Both our naan breads were tasty; once again, you can taste the quality of the ingredients and the difference between the two.

What It Cost For The Best Curry In The Vega Baja
Our bill came to 48.75€ which included a tanque of beer for me, Soph had a couple of Coke Zeros and I had a Café Bombón to finish off my meal.

We asked for the bills and before it arrived, th staff appeared with a dessert with a candle in it, as someone had known we were booked in and had tipped off the restaurant. This was a really nice gesture and a total surprise.

Finally
Something else to point out, we go here not for a cheap and cheerful 11 euro, 3 course, menu del dia / fixed price menu. We go here because these dishes are authentic with an elevated taste. I’d rather pay a little more and have a great dish than pay a little less and have a dish that is just ‘okay’.
The service was excellent, very friendly, welcoming, and you felt appreciated. I got the chance to chat to the owner too, who is a really nice and down to earth guy. Long may he continue to produce these wonderful dishes.
