Sabores del Camino

Considered The Sabores del Camino Tapas Event?

HeyDaveHere, September 21, 2025September 21, 2025

I personally think this is a great idea, the Sabores del Camino which is held in Caravaca de la Cruz. From where we live it’s an hour and a half or so drive, but we are going to try get there, probably in October.

Discover Caravaca through its gastronomic routes. Explore five tapas routes inspired by pilgrimage routes, savour exclusive tapas and win incredible prizes while discovering Caravaca’s heritage.

A vibrant new initiative launched by the Town Hall of Caravaca de la Cruz has earned the enthusiastic support of 30 local bars and restaurants, all eager to showcase their culinary talents under the banner of the “Sabores del Camino” program.

Those completing any of the Sabores del Camino routes in Caravaca can enter draws for prizes, such as free dinners at the restaurants taking part. All you need is a QR scanner and to get your app stamped at each establishment you visit. You can simply Click HERE for the form to complete.

Participating establishments are grouped into five distinct gastronomic routes, each inspired by the historic pilgrimage paths leading to the Holy City of Caravaca. These include the Camino de Levante, Camino de la Vera Cruz, Camino de San Juan de la Cruz, Camino Espiritual del Sur, and Camino del Mediterráneo. The initiative offers not only a delicious culinary experience but also a unique opportunity to explore the city’s rich historical and gastronomic heritage.

Visitors can enjoy a wide array of tapas, snacks, and desserts—ranging from beloved traditional recipes to bold, contemporary creations crafted by local chefs. The images are from the official site!

What Appeals About The Sabores del Camino Tapas Event

This is it seems more about the quality as opposed to the quantity or cheapness. This Sabores del Camino event is where restaurants and establishment are showcasing their talents, which is what I like about these types of days out.

Over the years we have been served some real rubbish on local tapas routes, such as in Benijofar in 2024 at the American Diner ( now closed ) and at Bar Code in Los Montesinos, who served a half filled plastic small cup of water as their drink offering. I kid you not!

Bar code water

Anyway, on thing to mention here, is there are no drinks included, this is all about sampling the food at these establishments. This also means prices for each dish vary, from restaurant to restaurant.

Soph and I enjoy the local tapas trails in the towns and villages near us, but this one looks a step up from these events.

Final Thoughts On The Sabores del Camino

One of these routes is the “Camino de Levante” (The Eastern Way), named after the main pilgrimage route featured in the city’s Holy Jubilee Year every seven years. All of the 7 bars, cafeterias and restaurants featured on this route are within 100 metres or so, so a little to-ing and fro-ing is no inconvenience, and are located close to the Plaza del Arco, the church of El Salvador and the start of the climb up to the castle-sanctuary.

Check out the official website here for all the latest Sabores del Camino news on this event.
