As we were down on the outskirts of Torrevieja we decided to have a Go Café Express Lunch, as we’d really enjoyed both the tapas and lunch there on previous visits.
We arrived not long after 13.30, so just before the 2pm rush and got a table indoors. The woman who served us, was the same one who had served us last time we had lunch there.
What We Had
Thinking we were getting the same Go Café Express lunch as last time, we had the following today:
Drinks
Soph had a Coke Zero, I had a normal Coke, as I am on a no booze week this week!
Food
We asked to see the menu and we decided to go with what we had the last visit.
The table was set, we each were brought out a large dining plate, cutlery and a bread basket with alioli, tomato ketchup and BBQ sauce.
The bread was very soft, fresh and I thought the alioli had a lot of taste to it.
There was the small house salad brought to the table. When this was cleared, the extra bread was brought out.
The salad was fine; it was fresh but there was a lot of water sat in the bottom of the dish.

Mains
A nice plate with tender chicken, panchetta, steak, black pudding, sausage, chorizo, plus corn on the cob, plus a small amount of grilled veggies, consisting of peppers, courgettes and aubergines and a slice of tomato.
The chicken was nicely seasoned, there was a sprinkle of rock salt across the meats.

Dessert
Soph went for the cheesecake, which isn’t a cheesecake as she expected. This is more of a cake type dessert. I went for profiteroles just as I randomly picked them.
Soph left half her dessert ( I’ll not call it cheesecake ) and I did finish my dessert, but with hindsite I would have gone for a coffee to finish, but we were only asked for choices for ” postres ” and not ” postres o cafe “

What We Liked
Nice bread, nice meats. The restaurant was lovely and cool, despite it being 33c outdoors. Service was prompt throughout.
What Could Be Improved
Communication based on the lunch visit today. Our server brought us more bread out without us needed to ask for it. As we were finishing the meat, I said to Soph I’m going to have some more chicken and black pudding and sausage, she said she’d have chicken and the sausage.
However this was not the case, as our server swooped in, took the plates and when we asked about the meat, she reverted into super fast Spanish (despite not 10 minutes before, asking an Irish family, in decent English if they’d like further drinks or a coffee ).
She then asked what dessert we wanted, in Spanish!
How Much Did It Cost For Go Café Express Lunch
Lunch today was 25.80€ and I’m not sure if this included the drinks or if they didn’t charge us or what.

Would We Return
This really is a difficult one. I like the place, but today threw us due to being so inconsistent. As you can see clearly on the receipt from our previous visit for the lunch, we were offered and had a small additional meat serving. Today it was not offered and when we asked, it was shrugged off.
As we were driving home, Soph said she’d like to try a bocadilla there, maybe as they looked nice.
How To Get Here
If you’re coming from Quesada and heading into Torrevieja via the CV-905, keep an eye out for the big Hiperber supermarket on your left. When you reach that roundabout, take the first exit on the right — it’s clearly signposted for the ITV testing centre, so you can’t miss it.
Not long after, take the first left turn. That road leads you straight to the ITV station.
The place you’re looking for is on Av. de los Nenúfares, 03184 Torrevieja, Alicante. If you already know where the ITV testing station is, it’s right next door — couldn’t be more convenient.
They’ve got a quite up to date Facebook page too, regularly updated with menus, news, and handy info, so it’s worth a look if you want more information..
For exact directions, it’s always a good idea to check Google Maps before heading out.
Oh — and just so you know, a pint (or tanque) of beer at Go Café Express Torrevieja is only €2.00 after 5pm, Monday to Saturday. Not bad at all!
