Momen Alicante

Momen Alicante: The Perfect Spot For People Watching

HeyDaveHere, December 4, 2023December 4, 2023

So how did we end up visiting Momen Alicante? Well, Imagine a sunny, warm November morning, and you are in the town with a couple of hours to kill.

We’d taken the car in for a service, hopped into Alicante town, and went for a wander, calling in at a couple of coffee shops tucked away on the back streets. Eventually, we found ourselves back at the front line and had planned to pop into an Indian for lunch, but at the last moment swerved into the bar and restaurant called Momen.

What We Had At Momen Alicante

We went for a Coke, and I asked which beers they had. My eyes lit up in delight when the words “Estrella Galicia” came from the waiter’s mouth! On the menu, they advertised bread with aioli and tomato, so we went for a portion of that. I’d also seen a selection of tapas, and one item caught my eye and that was the salmon with cream cheese. So I also ordered one of those.

The bread was so fresh, and then adding in the aioli along with the freshly prepared tomato it tasted amazing. Such a simple dish but fresh ingredients really make all the difference. The highlight, though was the salmon and cream cheese with rocket. Very light, but packed a punch with the flavours. No skimping on the salmon, either.

I have to say, we enjoyed this all so much, that we reordered everything, much to the delight and surprise of the waiter, who first of all thought that my Spanish had let me down and we just wanted more drinks, todo’ we reassured him!

What We Liked at Momen

It was enjoyable just sitting in the sun, watching the world go by but the star of the show was the salmon and cream cheese.
The service was very welcoming and friendly and the staff were busy ensuring that tables were cleared down quickly and ready for the next customer.

What Could Be Improved?

Absolutely nothing at all. The service was on the ball, with attentive staff but not overbearing. Tables were cleared quickly, service efficient and quick and the food was very tasty.

How Much Did It Cost At Momen Alicante?

The entire bill came in at €24.80

Drinks

The Cokes were €2.30 each, and the Estrella Galicia were €2.70 each. Not the cheapest by any stretch, but this is a prime position.

Food

Each of the bread baskets was €3.50 and the salmon, rocket, and cream cheese were €3.90 each.

Would We Return To Momen Alicante?

If we were in the town, then yes, we would do so. It is easy to find, and as well as tapas, they do offer a menu del dia and also a full menu. As we were quite early and a lot of bars had finished off breakfast service and weren’t ready for lunch, we decided just to have drinks and also looked at the tapas menu. Had we been a couple of hours later, we might have asked for the lunch menu.

How To Find Momen Cervecería

We had got a taxi in, and we were dropped off at the front near the taxi rank.

The Facebook page for Momen Alicante has their contact details if you need to get in touch.

Their address is, Passeig Esplanada D’Espanya, 21, Alicante, Spain. You can also plot a course by using the maps feature.

If you are coming into the town so the marina is on your right, we recommend parking in one fo the underground car parks and walking across. PArking in the streets of Alicante is challenging at the best of times!
