Bar Venecia Catral

Lunch At Bar Venecia Catral

HeyDaveHere, May 16, 2025May 16, 2025

Okay, so today was slightly different for our lunch out, as a change we decided to eat at Bar Venecia Catral. Nothing wrong with that, we have eaten here quite often but usually on an evening.

Today Soph was dropping me off here to have a couple of drinks with friends, while she had a couple of chores to do and a visit to the vet. I need to emphasise here the vet visit was for one of our dogs, before some smart arse chimes up!

Anyway, I took my book and ordered a pint of draught beer, good value at 2.50€ a pint. I had second pint and friends turned up. More friends arrived, more beer was drunk and eventually Soph did managed to get to meet up with me.

Our original intentions was to have the menu del dia here, but that quickly went out of the door when a couple of Spanish women took a table just behind us and ordered food. They had ordered pizzas which were brought out to them past our table.

When Soph arrived we went indoors with a friend of ours, Helen and we got a table for lunch. We have often seen a chalkboard near the doorway with the menu del dia listed, but this wasn’t here today.
The boss came out and rattled off the menu, quicker than a GPMG firing supporting cover fire, and the three of us looked at each other blankly.
We then asked for the pizza menu instead.

What We Had

We had discarded the menu del dia, although several Spanish folk came in and rdered this, it did look good. Instead we played it safe and had a pizza.

Drinks.

Soph had a Coke Zero, this was the large bottle, Helen had a Agua Vichy bottled water and I had a tanque, yet again.

Food.

All three of us went for pizza, mine was the Diavlo, Sop tried the Artur which was tasty, the caramalised onions added to the flavour. I had the Diavlo, as I like food with peppers and taste, this was just right for me. I cannot recall which pizza Helen had, but she said enjoyed hers also.

What We Liked

Prompt service, decent food at a good price.

What Could Be Improved

The menu del dia written out in writing would be great. I often find I can read Spanish a lot better than I can hear it being read out to me.

How Much Did It Cost For Lunch At Bar Venecia Catral

The bill for the three of us was 29.90€ in total.
The drinks were: Coke zero bottled was 1.70€, the Agua Vichy was 1.70€ and my tanque of beer 2.50€.

The pizzas were all 8.00€ each and these are really good value.

Would We Return

Yes, of course. We have never had bad food or service here, and the drinks are a good price too. This is one of those places that we have called into several times with family or friends, had a starter and pizza, loved the food, and I have never gotten around to doing a write-up. The fact that we keep returning to Bar Venecia Catral, kind of says we like it here.
I am still going to come back to try their menu del dia and we know from previous tapas routes, they also do decent tapas here too.

How To Find Bar Venecia Catral

Address: C. la Purísima, 16, 03158 Catral, Alicante
Phone: 675 93 08 51. They don’t appear to have a Facebook page, and their IG page is not actively updated.

If you are coming off the AP7 or coming in from San Felipe, drive down C. la Purísima and at the traffic lights, go straight ahead, onto the one way system. Then 50 metres or so, just before you get to Odontomar Catral on your left, you’ll see the Bar Venecia Catral.
