Exploring Los Montesinos Tapas

Los Montesinos Tapas Tasting Part 1

HeyDaveHere, May 14, 2025May 14, 2025

As we were in town we decided that today we’d do some Los Montesinos tapas testing, visiting a couple of bars we have never been to before. Despite us over the years visiting a lot of places here on the Ruta De La Tapa Los Montesinos, and also when we have been passing through, it’s surprising how many places we have still to get to visit.

Bar Vica.

This was our first port of call, chosen purely because we’d seen it the other week when we visited Bar Cafeteria Tapas D’Dalia, as they are literally a stones throw from each other.

What We Had At Bar Vica

I ordered a can of draught beer, Soph had a Coke Zero and for the tapas I ordered one lot of the empanadas and one tapa of fish in sauce.

The drinks were brought out along with a bread basket.
The empanadas were okay, there was a decent plateful for the price.

However, the fish was the main attraction here. This was ever so tasty, the peppers were really nice and flavoursome, the sauce didn’t overpower the plate, and as you can see, there were some big pieces of fish in this plate. Another big positive here was that there were no bones in the fish.

What We Liked

The fish tapas was really good, the service we found to be friendly, welcoming and overall this was a good visit for us.

What Did It Cost

I gave over a 20€ note and was more than happy to get 10.70€ back as change. Due to not getting a receipt offered we can only guess at the breakdown here.
So maybe the tapas were 3€ each, making 6€ for the food.
This leaves 3.30€ for the drinks, so 1.80€ for Sophs soft drink and 1.50€ for my beer, at a guess!

Dave In Spain Sorry no receipt here

Would We Return?

Actually, yes we would do, even if just for that fish tapas. It was so good I could have had that as a lunch course.

Sadly, I could not find any website or social media presence for this place, to get here follow the directions I gave here for Cafeteria Tapas D’Dalia.

Los Montesinos Tapas Bar VF

Bar VF Los Montesinos.

The second place we visited today was heading back out of the town, towards Torrevieja, but on the industrial estate. I’d had Bar VF suggested to me by a couple of people as being worth visiting, so hey why not.

What We Had At Bar VF

They don’t have beer on tap, so I just asked for a beer, and got a bottled Estrella beer. Soph had a Coke, once again.
For the tapas, I ordered magra and salchichas. These were brought out with a bread basket. I do struggle with some bars, when there are 2 people, you order a dish each and the bread basket comes with 5 pieces.

The magra was fine, I did prefer the salchichas personally. It’s been a while since I have had these as a tapas, where they are cut into small pieces and served that way.

These had a nice taste, not like some of the really bland sausages you can’t sometimes end up with, here in Spain.

What We Liked

Friendly, prompt service, there’s nothing better than getting service with a smile. Toilets were spotlessly clean here too.

What Did It Cost

A bit of deja vu here…… No Receipts Given Here Either.

I handed over a 20€ note and received 10.30€ back as change. Due to not getting a receipt offered we can only guess at the breakdown here.
So maybe the tapas were 3.00€ each, making 6€ for the food.
This leaves 3.70€ for the drinks, so 2.0€ for Sophs soft drink and 1.70€ for my beer, again this is at a guess!

Sorry No Receipts Given Here Either

Would We Return?

Yes, I think we would do so. There was nothing that made me go ” wow ” but this is one of those traditional Spanish industrial estate bars. Sitting on the small terrace looking at industrial units, with the faint background noise of welding in the distance, isn’t everyone’s cup of tea.
There were 4 guys inside, all Spanish, from one of the businesses on the estate, as they had walked round. Then a delivery driver, parked up and went in for a coffee and tostada.

Their address etc is: Algorfa, 1B Pol. Ind. Levante II, Los Montesinos, and they have a contact number 966 72 01 76. They have a FB page but it’s not been updated in 3 years.

Final Thoughts On This Los Montesinos Tapas Visit.

We have now visited 2 more establishments that we have never been to previously and we’d more than happily return to both. At Vica bar, Soph mentioned the tostadas looked really nice, as one of the servers brought a couple out to one of the tables. So we might try either a tostada visit next time to these 2 places or see if they do a menu del dia.

One thing to note, I didn’t see a menu or prices on the tapas dishes at either bar.

The favourite dish of the day, we both agree,d was the fish tapas at Bar Vica.
