Taste Of Peru Don Pepe: Full Of Flavours

HeyDaveHere, January 26, 2024January 26, 2024

We actually drive past the Taste of Peru Don Pepe restaurant twice a week at least and finally got a chance to visit for lunch. After seeing their posts on Facebook, we had decided initially to have the lunch based around the chicken with a side, but after seeing the menu, this threw us a bit of a curveball, as their tapas selection sounded amazing. Finally, we decided to share three of the tapas along with the boneless chicken thighs with the two sides; suffice to say, we weren’t disappointed!

What We Had at Taste of Peru Don Pepe

I had a bottle of Amstel to drink, Soph was doing the drive home so she had her Coke. I also had a second beer with the meal.

We had three tapas dishes to share: the mussels, the shredded chicken, and also the chicken on a potato dough. This was followed by a portion of the three boneless chicken thighs, with us choosing sweet potato fries and a side salad as the two dishes to accompany the protein.

The mussels were a lively dish, bursting with flavour from the lime-based salsa dressing. It gave a tang on the tongue without the heat you would have with a chili-based dish.

The shredded chicken was a hearty dish without being stodgy. The chicken was plentiful and tasty, thanks partly to the yellow peppers and sprinkling of parmesan.

The Chicken potato dough was a very nice tasting dish, again it had depth of flavour with nothing being too over powering. Please don’t be put off by the name Chicken Potato Dough. It tastes better than it sounds!

The boneless chicken main was nicely cooked, and the meat was juicy and moist. There are 5 or 6 options to choose from for the sides; for our two, we first went with the sweet potato fries. This was a good choice as they were freshly cooked, hot, and tasty with just a little crunch. On our second side, we went for the side salad, which again was fresh and had a lovely dressing that perfectly balanced the dish.

What We Liked at Taste of Peru Don Pepe Guardamar del Segura

Super friendly staff, who spoke great English and were passionate about their menu. The star of the visit though, was the food. Your taste buds will tingle without being overwhelmed by spices.

What Could Have Been Improved at Taste of Peru Don Pepe

Absolutely nothing that we could think of. It was a lovely sunny day, 25c sat out in the shade, enjoying lovely food with attentive services. What more could a person want?

How much Did It Cost?

The lunch visit bill came in at 36.60 euros in total.

receipt 1

Beers were 4,60€ for two bottles, and the Coke was 2,00€.
The tapas dishes were mussels at 4,50€ shredded chicken, 6,00€ and the chicken potato dough was 5,00€ The main course (which we also shared ) of 3 pieces of boneless chicken thighs with two sides was 14,50€.

Would We Return To Taste of Peru Don Pepe

This is a resounding YES. The menu is different, and there is a lot to choose from without there being too much, if that makes sense. Sometimes you look at a menu and know there is no way that they can possibly offer the selection without it being brought in pre-prepared. We’re looking forward to the next visit where the empanadas are top of the list!

How To Find The Taste of Peru Don Pepe

Coming from Quesada, follow the CV-905 onto to CV-895 towards Guardamar del Segura.
Go straight ahead at the 2 roundabouts and then keep an eye out for the restaurant which will be on your right.
If you’re coming back the other way from Guardamar del Segura, go past the El Raso roundabout and the restaurant will be on your left.

Address: Calle Campo de Guardamar 53, Guardamar del Segura, Spain

Their phone number: 641 29 49 98

They have menus and opening hours and directions on their Facebook page, but we both agreed their food tastes as good as it looks.
