We lunched once again at The Bombay. The other Saturday saw Soph, her mum and I in Catral and as we’d nothing really planned for food, we decided to have a curry. The last time her mum was across, we had been here and she enjoyed it, so we returned again with her.
As the weather wasn’t brilliant, we sat inside, one of 7 tables in use. What was noticeable was 3 of these tables were Spaniards eating here!
What We Had At The Bombay
We all ordered Coke Zeros to drink and all went for the menu del dia, fixed lunch option, though Sophs mum was tempted by the tapas options.
Starters.
We had the poppadams and pickle tray, while we waited for the first course to come.

I went for the onion bhaji, which was very tasty. Soph had the chicken chat puri, once again, which she liked. Last to be brought to the table was her mums starter. She’d ordered chicken tikka, and I think she was expecting like you often get in the UK, 2 or 3 tiny pieces of chicken on a pile of salad. Here though, it was the sizzling dish with good pieces of chicken, which was very tender.

Mains.
I wanted to try something different, so I had the Tandoori King Prawns, which comes with a curry sauce accompaniment. The prawns were lovely, very tasty and I really enjoyed ths dish.

For something else different, I went with the cheese and chilli naan. Wow, this was excellent. The cheese had melted, so was a little gooey, but the fresh, green chillies were really hot and fresh!
Sophs mum went for a Chicken Korma, which was nicely presented and she’d ordered a plain naan. Again, plenty of really tender chicken and she liked her main.

Sophies main was Chicken Dopiaza, which she really enjoyed. For her side, she had the house naan bread, which was filled with flavours on top of flavours. The breads were all light, tasty and great quality.

To Finish.
I just had a cafe con leche, while the ladies both went for ice cream. Soph chose the chocolate and her mum the strawberry.
We were also offered a chupito to round the meal off.
What We Liked.
Great food, prompt service and great value for money. What I also really do like about the lunch menu here is that you can choose any starter, any main and any bread or rice, without being charged any extra.
What Could Be Improved.
This was our first time dining inside here, and the background music at times was far too loud, to the extent you struggled to hear each other across the table.
What Did It Cost At The Bombay.
The bill for lunch in total came to 42.45€. This was 38.35€, for the food, broken down as 3 of the lunch menus at 12.95€ per person. On top of this were another couple of Cokes at 1.80€ each.

Would We Do Another Bombay Catral Visit?
Yes, we would. As we sa, it’s possible at times to catch a restaurant of bar on a bad day, which is possibly what happened on our first visit here, going back 3 years. On each of our visits since, we have been more than impressed.
Yes, we know there are other Indian restaurants within a 20 minute drive and yes, we will be visiting 2 or 3 of these in the coming months, to see how these stack up.
