It’s Fryday 2nd August and we decided to pop across to Quesada Fish And Chips, as we were in town anyway. We filled the car up at the Ballenoil petrol station and as it was approaching an early lunch time, we said we wanted fish & chips today.
As we were driving along the bottom road to turn right into the car parks, we saw a car which by the looks of things had overshot the curb at the bottom of the car park, and the front end was over the stonework, ouch.
There were a handful of parking spaces, so we managed to get one of these and then walked to the restaurant. Quickly acknowledged and seated, there is quite a large menu on offer.
What We Had At Quesada Fish & Chips
Drinks
Being old fashioned and despite it being around 32c, I ordered a tea and asked if they had a mug of tea. I was informed they did do mugs or a pot of tea. I chose the tea pot option, which I have to say was the smallest tea pot I have ever seen, but as I saw when the bill arrived it was only €1.20, so there’s nothing to complain about, really.
Soph asked for a Coke Zero and was advised it was Pepsi that was stocked, so she said that would be fine. This was a bottle of Pepsi sugar free, but these are the tiny 200ml bottles, so only two thirds of what you get in a can.
Food
Soph went for the fish and chip meal deal, choosing Haddock, with bread and butter and garden peas. As I hadn’t had breakfast I asked for the large Haddock with chips, only to be advised there was no large Haddock left, but there was large Cod. I went with the Cod option, instead.
Both fish portions were big, the batter was really nice, the chips were ‘proper’ chippy chips, not oven chips as we have seen before at certain establishments.
What We Liked At Quesada Fish And Chip Restaurant
Service was prompt and the food was decent. The place was very clean and tidy and the staff worked well as a team. There were plenty of condiments available on the table too.
Another good thing was when we asked for the bill, our server asked at the time would we be paying cash or card. This means the payment transaction is quicker than having to ask for the bill, wait for it to be presented, and then advise you are paying by card, meaning the staff have to then go get the card machine.
What Could Be Improved
There’s nothing really actionable that springs to mind. yes, I would have preferred Haddock to Cod, but if it’s not available, then it is not available. Otherwise, maybe a bigger tea pot option for those who enjoy a drink of tea.
How Much Was Lunch Today
The total bill was a very reasonable €25. My large Cod & chips were €12.50 and I was full and even left some chips. Sophs menu of the day lunch was €9.50. Drinks were the tea at €1.20 and the Pepsi at €1.80. Considering we were both full and didn’t clear our plates, this was a good deal.
Would We Return To Fish & Chips Quesada
Yes, is the simple answer, if we were in the town and looking for something to eat. I have friends who go here on a regular basis and say their Sunday lunches are superb too.
How To Find Quesada Fish & Chips
Easiest way to describe if you know Quesada at all, is come in from the AP 7 as though heading up towards the arches, but swing round the roundabout by KFC and head along C. del Ancla, which is in front of KFC. Then at the end of this slip road, veer off to the right.
Their actual address is classed as: Calle Los Arcos, Rojales. You can get directions from their Facebook page too.
