Menu Del Dia At Bar Susi Catral

Menu Del Dia At Bar Susi Catral

HeyDaveHere, August 28, 2025August 28, 2025

We went to Bar Susi Catral for lunch today, as we’d heard they were now doing a menu del dia option. Personally, I can really take it or leave it with Chinese food, I’d rather have a good Indin curry or Thai dishes, so this in mind I really wanted to try here.
This is a bar we used to call in for a drink, usually if we were using the laundrette next door. During the morning, the outdoor seating area has the Spanish ‘old boys’ playing dominoes and cards, so it’s quite lively.

Before I get off track, let’s get back to the lunch visit today. Soph and I were with friends having a ‘coffee’ and we’d said we were going to try here for lunch, and a couple we are good friends with mentioned it sounded interesting and would we mind if they came along.

There are a couple of menu del dia options, one is 13.95€ and there is a second at 15.95€ which has more choices. We went mainly for the latter.

What We Had

We all had the menu del dia, which provided plenty of options for everyone to choose from.

Drinks

We chaps both had a tanque of beer with our meal, I was rather thirsty so squeezed a second on in partway through. Soph had an Aquarius and Lynne had an agua con gas.

Food

Starters.
Lynne went with the salad to start, Fred the chicken soup, Soph went for the chicken soup picante and I decided to try the spring roll.
The salad looked really nice and fresh and Lynne enjoyed this. Both the soups were full of diced chicken, Sophs picante version was not crazy hot but was full of flavour. The spring roll was hot, fresh and came with a side dish of sweet chili sauce.

Mains.

I had the chicken and prawn, asked for it picante. This was lovely, again it had heat and flavour. Fred went with the chicken main and it was a really good sized portion Lynne had the prawn dish and said it was really nice. Soph had the beef, which she asked for it spicy and this was very flavoursome.

We went with 2 noodles and 2 rice dishes to go with these; again, both were generous portions and enjoyable.

Dessert.

This is a one option course, which is a banana frita with ice cream.

Coffee.

Fred had an Americana, I had a Bombon and I have to say, this was one of the best cafe bombons I have had, so much so I asked Soph to order one and I had hers too.

We were also offered a chupita, and we all went for the Bailey’s option.

What We Liked

Excellent service, very attentive and nothing seemed too much bother. The food was delicious and this made lunch very enjoyable.

They charged us for 2 tanques and the third was offset against the menu del dia, which is good.

What Could Be Improved

Just to be really picky here, the dessert came on a sharing platter with 4 spoons, between the 4 of us, which is fine. However, there were only 6 banana fritters, whereas there should ideally have been 8. But as I said, it was a very minor point and not something that would stop us recommending or revisiting.

What It Cost

The bill for lunch for 4 of us came to 69,50€

Would We Return To Bar Susi Catral

In a flash, as everything was good today. The food was tasty and plentiful, the service was attentive and prompt. The overall lunch was very enjoyable and filling too. The menu del dia was good value.

How To Find Bar Susi Catral

Their address is Address: C. la Purísima, 34, 03158 Catral, Alicante. Come down the main street heading towards Dolores, they are on the left between the farmacia and the laundrette.
Phone: 865 75 60 80 is the phone number listed on the internet. They don’t have Facebook, but they do have Instagram, which has images of some of their food dishes.
