Going back probably two and a half years we went to Bombay Catral Indian Restaurant for a lunch, as we fancied a curry and to be honest it was garbage. We ordered totally different dishes back then, they arrived and looked the same, same generic sauce and the food was not that good. Needless to say, we never went back. The weird thing was back then, people were saying to us, go there it’s a euro cheaper than the Punjabi ( I kid you not! ).
Fast forward to August 2025 and 3 different couples had said we should go back here to give them a try, so Soph and I went back to Bombay Catral Indian Restaurant for a lunch. Boy, how things have improved.

What We Had
We decided to go with the fixed price lunch menu. This incudes a drink, so I had a small beer, Soph went for the soft drink option. She than had a second Coke Zero with her meal.

Starters
We were brought out popadoms and pickle tray. This was very flavoursome, with a nice kick to it.
I wanted to try the Mix platter, which consists of a chicken pakora, a vegetable pakora, king prawn pakora and a samosa.
This was a decent sized portion, fresh and hot, tasty and with the pickle tray was enjoyable.
Sophs starter was the chicken chat puri. This was very tasty, nicely presented and she really enjoyed this.

Mains
For my main, I decided to try the Pudina Tikka, partly because it’s not a dish you often see on the menu and I wanted to try something slightly different. This was a really tasty dish, nice amount of chicken and I had asked for it spicy, and there was just the right amount of heat.

The sauce for my dish was very tasty.

Soph had a Chicken Bhuna, which she really enjoyed. A good sized portion, plenty of chicken in there and it ticked all the boxes.

We both went with the garlic naan as the choice for our rice or bread. These were ok, not as fluffy or as light as we have had at some places, but they were tasty.

Dessert
We both went with the chocolate ice cream, this is your usual, bog standard supermarket ice cream, but this too was a good sized portion.

What We Liked
Service was prompt, friendly and attentive. The food was good and it was quite a relaxed atmosphere for lunch. We were also offered a chupito to finish, a nice gesture. I have been eating curry for 40 years or so, back in the day in Bradford, so finding a good curry or Asian food in Spain is a challenge, to say the least.

What Could Be Improved
To be honest, not a lot. We came with expectations quite low, to be honest and we were more than surprised how good lunch was. The service was on point and the food was decent.
What Did It Cost
The bill was 27.70€ in total, as their lunch menu is 12.95€ per person plus Sophie had a second drink which was 1.80€. They also do an evening menu for 14.95€ each.

Would We Return To The Bombay
Yes. There are several other dishes I’d like to try ( including their Bombay Special Naan ) and the fact you can choose anything off the menu, is great. Therefore, Bombay Catral Indian restaurant can expect us back in the not too dim and distant future.
So provided the quality remains, this might become a regular place for us.
How To Find The Bombay Catral Indian Restaurant
Very easy to find, it’s a stones throw from the Dia supermarket. On their Facebook page they actually list their address as “calle purisma 59-local 2, Near supermercado Dia, Catral, Spain”.
It’s next door to Vibe, on the high street with on road parking nearby.
