If you’re weighing up the Alicante to Benidorm taxi cost and wondering whether it’s worth splashing out, allow me to give you the no-fluff guide.

So, there you are. You’ve finally landed at Alicante Airport. The cabin crew have just told you it’s 32°C and you’re sweating through your Duty Free polo shirt. You want nothing more than to get to Benidorm, kick off the sandals, and start your holiday with something cold and fizzy in hand. But then you hit the first real Spanish decision of the day: how do I get to Benidorm, and how much is it going to cost me?

Let’s talk taxis, transfers, buses, and whether hiring a car is actually worth it.

Alicante To Benidorm By taxi

🚕 The Classic: Taking a Taxi from Alicante to Benidorm

Ah yes, the taxi. It’s sitting there outside the terminal, shiny, cool, and ready to whisk you away… for a price. And here’s the truth:

  • Standard private taxi – From €65 one way
  • Luxury taxi (for when you’re feeling flush) – From €100
  • Private minibus – Also around €85-€100, depending on the glamour level
  • Public bus – A much friendlier €8, if you don’t mind sharing with 49 other sun-seekers and possibly someone’s loudly chirping parrot or that annoying git watching videos on their phone, with no ear buds used.

Bear in mind, all these prices are one-way, so if you’re budgeting, that taxi ride will end up costing you €120+ for a return trip.

And what do you get for that? A 45-minute spin up the N-332 or AP-7, depending on traffic and the mood of your driver. If it’s high season (read: July and August when everyone and their nan is in Spain), expect that 45 minutes to stretch into something more like an hour.

🧳 Alternatives to the Taxi Shuffle

Shuttle Bus: The Budget-Savvy Choice

If you’re happy waiting around for half an hour to collect fellow passengers from three different flights and maybe take the scenic route through every hotel on the coast, the shared shuttle is a steal. For around €10-€12, you’ll get to Benidorm eventually. Just pack patience and maybe a sandwich.

Private Transfer: Like a Taxi, But Fancy

Pre-booking a private transfer means skipping the taxi rank altogether. Some nice chap will be standing there with your name on a card (hopefully spelled right), and he’ll take you directly to your hotel. No sharing, no random drop-offs, and usually no faffing.

Prices are about the same as a taxi—€65-€80—but it feels posher because you booked ahead, and that means something when you’re travelling with the in-laws.
Check out GetTransfers for availability and arrive in style!

🚗 Should You Just Hire a Car?

Let’s be honest: If you’re planning to explore, or you just fancy being in charge of the air-con, hiring a car makes solid sense.

Here’s why:

  • You’re in control. Stop for ice cream, loo breaks, or photo ops whenever you fancy.
  • Cost-wise, you can hire a car for a week for roughly the same as a return taxi ride.
  • Driving in Spain is (mostly) easy, and parking in Benidorm isn’t the nightmare you’ve heard about. Well… unless it’s August.

If you’re the kind who likes to escape the beach and sniff out hidden villages or dusty old castles inland, a hire car’s your best mate.

🗺️ Just How Far Is Alicante from Benidorm Anyway?

Not far at all. The distance between Alicante Airport and Benidorm is around 56 kilometres—that’s about 35 miles, for those still thinking in pints and pounds. Keep in mind too, which area of Benidorm you’re staying, is it on the strip, in the Old Town or on the outskirts?

Time-wise? Roughly 45 minutes to an hour, depending on whether you’re on the toll road (AP-7) or the slower scenic route (N-332).

✈️ A Few Travel Tips

  • Book your transfers before you fly – You’ll often get better prices and less hassle. Nobody likes faffing with apps and foreign SIM cards at baggage reclaim.
  • If using a taxi, make sure it’s official – Ask to see ID and the meter. You don’t want to get in with “Cousin Pepe” offering a “good price”.
  • Avoid peak times if you can – Late at night or midday during summer holidays = queues, crowds and grumpy drivers.
  • Plan your return – Don’t be the one who forgets to sort the return trip until 3am before your flight.
  • Uber – If you have the app, this is another option from Alicante airport. Read more here, about Uber in Alicante.

🏖️ So, Is the Alicante To Benidorm Taxi Cost Worth It?

Well, that depends.

If you want someone to meet you at arrivals, throw your bags in the back, and zoom off with minimal effort—sure, the taxi from Alicante to Benidorm is a luxury that many are happy to pay for. But if you’re on a budget, or just like having options, you might find better value in a private transfer or even hiring a car for a few days.

Whatever you choose, just make sure your first proper drink in Benidorm is cold, your hotel bed is soft, and you remember to keep your receipts.

Final Word

There’s no one-size-fits-all when it comes to getting from Alicante to Benidorm. But now you’ve got the inside scoop, you can make your choice with confidence—and probably smugly explain it to a fellow tourist in the airport taxi queue.

Whatever your choice, don’t forget the suncream and a bit of patience. This is Spain, amigo. Things work a little differently here—and that’s part of the fun.

Depending on the time of year and the time your flight lands, it will partly impact the number of taxis available at the airport taxi ranks.
