Restaurante La U Almoradi

Great Breakfast At Restaurante La U Almoradi

HeyDaveHere, September 8, 2023September 9, 2023

We had to pop out for some shopping and decided we’d see what Restaurante la U Almoradi had to offer. Whenever we’ve driven past it has been busy with all the outdoor tables being full, which is always a good sign.

One thing we had wondered, though, was whether all the customers were ex-pats or whether it was a good locals bar (the type we love!)

Anyway, today we decided to take the plunge as there was a parking space about 50 metres away. Got a table for 2 outside, there were people at most of the other tables, and all except one were Spanish, which was a bit of a surprise.

There was a table of 4 old boys, busy playing dominoes, enjoying a beer or a spirit, good going for 11.30 a.m.

Service was quick; the lady came out of the door as soon as we were sitting down, gave us a smile, and came to take our order.

I ordered a coffee, my standard café con leche. This is so I can use a benchmark drink to compare to other places we visit. Soph opted for her usual Coke Zero.

What was going to be just a drink visit turned into a breakfast, though, partly as the couple with 2 children on a nearby table ordered food. You know what I mean when you’re sat there, and the pleasant smell of hot food wafts your way…..

Breakfast

We decided to have a bite to eat as a late desayuno. I ordered another coffee and asked for a tostada con serrano. Soph went for a lomo bocadilla con queso (pork loin, cheese and tomato all in a large roll). The second coffee and my tostada came out quickly, and soon after, Soph’s bocadillo.

The tostada was tasty, with really nice bread, an even covering of tomato, and plenty of very tasty serrano ham.

The bocadilla was served on really tasty fresh bread. The pork lomo was tender, and the cheese was melted, too. Again, this was tasty and filling.

What We Liked

The prompt and friendly service. The quality of food was great and the value for money was excellent.

What Could Be Improved

Nothing that we could think of after the visit today. Do be aware that there are no menus, but they do offer all of the usual breakfast fare found in Spanish bars across the country. If you need a little help,= with knowing what to order, head inside where there are blackboards with details of everything that’s on offer.

How Much Did It Cost for Breakfast at Restaurante La U Almoradi?

For two coffees, one Cola Zero, a tostada con serrano, and a bocadilla loma y queso, this was very good value for money at €10.80.

Would We Return To Restaurante La U Almoradi

Yes, we would, and we saw their blackboard with the menu del dia, which looks like a nice offering, so we will be coming back to try this one day soon.

How To Find Restaurante La U in Almoradi

So coming from the AP7 head in towards the town centre. You’ll have the Super Dumbo supermarket on your right, across the main road is Lidls supermarket. Then on the left, you’ll see the BP petrol station, and then the bar is on the next small block, on the main road.

You can either park on that side of the road or down the side street or do as we did and head to the big roundabout, do the 360°, and head back the way you came. Obviously, now the bar will be on your right.
